Haakaa Generation 1 Silicone Breast Pump, 100 ml Capacity

My little one has been sleeping really well at night since very early on, which means I wake up with very full boobs! I simply attach this to one boob whilst she feeds off the other and my boobs are instantly relieved and I will have around 90ml (3oz) - or more if I empty the pump and put it back on - milk expressed ready to give her a bottle or freeze for later. I’m not sure it would be the best pump to use if you are looking to purely pump and not breast feed, as I’ve found that I get a lot more milk if I use it on one boob whilst feeding from the other. But if you are breast feeding, it’s a great way of collecting some milk, without having to find the time to pump between feeds. It’s really simple to use - just suction it on and leave it to do it’s job - and really easy to clean as it’s just one part with no fiddly little bits.

This was recommended to me by a midwife while I was having problems expressing. I had both an electric breast pump and a handpump at home, but neither made me completely happy. This is simple but fantasic. It uses suction to pull milk out, no continuous pressure or squeezing required. Just get it gripped and it does the work for you. No noisy pump sounding like a mocking cow next to you. No clunky handpump to use. This was a godsend and I even used to turn it so I could use it while lying in bed on my side, and even when breastfeeding (when my baby was very young). It can lose suction when the outer ring is damp (which happened when I would empty the milk into a bottle) but so did the others I used, so just wipe round before trying to reattach. I would outright recommend this over both the hand and electrical versions.

I’ve started using this pump now that baby is 3 weeks old and my milk supply has settled. It works really well for me, I use it 2-4 times a day while breastfeeding to catch the let down in my other breast and collect 1-2oz within around 10 minutes. This gives me around 4oz a day that I can freeze to start building up a supply. It’s comfortable to wear, I’ve had no issues with the suction and it’s much easier to clean than any other pump I have used. Really happy with this purchase as it perfectly meets my needs.

A decent option for a quick release. The suction is better than anticipated and it works pretty fast. Ideal for use through the night.

This is great to help me store up milk for when we're apart and also helps my milk supply so demand is met when baby has a growth spurt. There is slight suction to it so not only does it catch the let down as I breastfeed but also pumps some extra milk out, for me about 20-30ml each time. It's so handy I don't even use my breast pump anymore as I manage.to collect about 200ml extra a day. The instructions say to fold over the rim then place it over the nipple, this is good for super suction but I literally just squeeze, place over nipple and it pops on, easy to do one handed.

I LOVE THE HAAKAA!!! It was recommended to me and I have since spread my recommendation far and wide, and everybody loves it! Really easy to use, you attach it, squeeze it a bit (read the instructions or watch a video on YouTube) and off you go. Stays on hands free, and basically pumps itself! I find the best times are on the other boob to when the baby is having her first feed in the morning (sounds tricky but is actually super easy) and post shower/bath. I often just attach under my jumper when I’m watching tv and you can forget about it, feel like you’re having a break from being a dairy cow, but actually you’re still producing! The sucker on the bottom is v useful to park it on the side without worrying it’ll fall over before you go and pour it into a bottle. I don’t bother with my electric pump anymore, plus this is fab for travelling! Every breastfeeding Mummy should have one!!

This is a great product. I was sceptical at first, as I already have an electric pump and didn't feel a need for a manual one like this. However, it's really handy for just attaching to a breast when baby is feeding from the opposite side. It catches any drops of milk that would otherwise be wasted in a breast pad. It's easy to attach, though might take a bit of practice to get the suction right - too little and you won't get much milk, too much and it can cause some discomfort. I can now get a good amount of milk from this that I'm rarely bothering with the electric pump! Highly recommended - though a little expensive for what it is. I do suggest buying a stopper or lid for it - you don't want to risk spilling that liquid gold! I purchased the NatureBond one from Amazon which fits well, it's cheaper than the official Haakaa one.

I loved this product when I first started breastfeeding. My baby is now 8 months so I do not feel the need to use this as I don’t have a huge supply anymore but for the first few months I used this product a lot. The only downside to note is CANNOT BE USED FOR COLD WATER STERILISATION (e.g Milton) which was rubbish as I had to boil it all the time in a pan. A few times I just chucked it in the Milton steriliser but has since gone extremely yellow because of the material. I didn’t realise that you couldn’t sterilise this type of material so be warned if you rely on cold water sterilisation. Id also note that it is no where near as powerful suction as when I first had it but this could be down to the fact I’ve used it in cold water steriliser a couple of times as no body has time to be boiling this in hot water when it’s the middle of the night

Funciona muy bien para colocar en un seno mientras el bebé se alimenta del otro, hace un vacío que genera una succión que no duele! Es una excelente opción para quien quiera ir haciendo un banco de leche. Se tarda mucho en recolectar ya que la succión no es nada fuerte. No es una opción para quien tenga extracción exclusiva y creo que tampoco para extracción en el trabajo! Es más opción para quien tenga mucha o suficiente leche y quiera ir guardándola.

Muy sorprendida con éste producto! Opción fácil para aprovechar la subida de la leche en el otro pecho del que no mama el bebé y recoger la leche. Lo conocí de casualidad y no puedo estar más contenta. No se trata de un recolector ni de un extractor como tal. Se sujeta al pecho como una ventosa y con esa fuerza que ejerce al agarre hace una leve succión.

I started using this product to capture let down while breast feeding my baby. It has been a great product, easy to use and clean and has helped me start a milk store with very little effort. I get between 30-60ml per use but that may differ for other users. This suits my needs currently.
