We had a different one that we needed loads of extras including a pineapple.** A: Needed to buy a few extras,like blue top milk and white flowers. But you can still do most activities with what's there. It's Deff 1 of the best sets we've used. **Q: I eldest is 5 but my youngest is 3. we obviously do everything together. could that work? or do i have to wait until my youngest if 5?** A: I got this as a 5th birthday present for my son - there are some bits where you need to count out drops of colouring/ use a pippet when setting up the experiments and the 'crystals' that come with it would need to be kept out of reach of a younger child. For many experiments you need to go away for a bit and then come back to them, which might be harder on the patience of a younger child. Having said that if you look ahead in the instructions to work out which bits the younger child can do then you should be able to make it work. **Q: Does this come with all parts loose in the box or packed securely?** A: Loose in the box. The bottles of food colouring are in a plastic bag. Our box was a little squashed when it arrived but everything inside was fine. **Q: I put the test tubes with crystals and dye over night and in the morning it was swarmed with tiny tiny mites/bugs what is that from?** A: The result of our experiment was little gem-like, but soft bits. Kids ages are 5 and 6 but could be enjoyed by older children easily. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Fun, Huge Mess *by K***E on 18 October 2020* This is a great present for a 4 year old, she wanted to play with it immediately,so we set to work. I am not the 4 years old parent and neither were we in my own house, so liberties may have taken which would not be allowed, or could be easily prevented, in a more controlled, more responsible setup. The dye was used up completely within the first 30 minutes, as we found many things upon which we could experiment with it. I had assumed a simple wipe down with a damp cloth would be enough to remove any of the dye which ended up on things we weren't necessarily experimenting on directly. That was a bad assumption. Our hosts wooden kitchen table is now indelibly stained a beautiful rainbow of different colours, or generally blacks and muddy browns, they think a quick sanding and re-varnishing should be all they need to do to restore it to its original condition. Hands, you would think a good wash would be enough to remove the worst of the stains. No, no amount of washing with soap and water can even touch these dyes. Some industrial cleaners we had to hand did the job for me but were deemed too chemically for use on nieces delicate young hands. It had definitely faded almost totally through natural means when I next saw her 2 weeks later. So all in all, marvellous fun.
