Works well enough for my purposes
This unit works well I think. I've used it with a Samsung smartphone and the 'Torque' app to check the coolant temperature in my engine, as the temperature guage in my 2002 VW Golf is only a kind of 'idiot guage' which is designed to lie about the temperature. (Specifically, the car's guage, although a traditional-looking guage with a needle and some numbers indicating temperature, is deliberately designed to show '90 degrees' at any temperature between 75 degrees and 107 degrees. I guess VW want their customers to feel completely relaxed about the coolant temperature unless it falls outside that range, but it does make it rather difficult to diagnose problems.)So, this bluetooth adapter works fine for that purpose. I also love the fact it is so compact as when it is inserted it is almost invisible and doesn't get in the way. There is just one 'quirk' which may be more to do with the Torque app than to do with the adapter, which is that if i switch off the ignition the adapter (or the app!) loses connection, and connection will only be re-eastablished if i close down the app and re-start it again. It's probably an app-thing and nothing to do with the adapter, so I'm in two minds whether to drop a star for that or not. No, it is so good in other regards that I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and give it five stars...

Good product
I have used this adapter on a BMW 318 with Torque app running on Android 4.0 and it works a treat. The app is able to connect to the adapter and pull in different PIDs. You can also request for any stored fault codes. The adapter comes with a label with a link to software download but I have not tried yet but feel quite confident that other software will also work. I would have liked the adapter to be a bit more robustly built but for the price I am not complaining. I wanted to test out a few things and didn't want to fork out a large amount on some of the branded adapters. This did the job.

Works fine with HTC Desire C and VW Golf 4
I had an engine management warning light on the dashboard of my old Golf mark 4. Ordered this, arrived the next day. Plugged into the Golf and turned on ignition. Connected fine to Bluetooth on HTC Desire C (I needed two code attempts for me it was the 1234 that worked). Had pre-loaded Toque on my phone. Torque picked up the device without any problem. Checked for fault code that came through. Really useful and helped diagnose problem. Also plugged it into the wife's Zafira to check if it worked with that, and all information came through fine. This is something I will keep in the drawer to be able to use again in the case another pesky engine management light comes on.

Not a good fit for Fiat Stilo 1.2
I bought this to use with a Fiat Stilo. Although both this device and my car claim to conform to the OBDII standard it was very difficult to plug this in, and almost impossible to remove it once installed.Connection to my phone on Bluetooth was pretty straightforward, but after the first connection it was difficult to connect the next time around. And then the problems started. To be fair, I can't be sure if these problems were down to my car, or the device, but the device stopped communicating with the ECU and the car threw up a "Loose connection" error on the dash, along with an engine fault message. Eventually I discovered that even though it was paring with the device, that didn't mean that I had a proper connection to the car, and due to the position of the OBDII connector on my car, and the shape of the device it was not possible for me to fully insert the device without modification.Paring issues with my LG G2 might be down to the fact that the device isn't tested with Android beyond 4.2, but I'm not sure about this either.I'm quite disappointed with this device. I'm now considering getting a higher quality device, perhaps with a USB connection to work with a laptop.

Very useful
Lost my VAGCOM lead and needed something else to read the codes on our VAG cars - very handy when used with the TORQUE Ap on my Fonepad, and highlighted that I need to replace the thermostat on my wife's Golf because I can see how slowly the water temperature is rising.OTOH, rather limited compared with VAGCOM/VCCD (understandable - huge price difference!) and no special plug-ins yet for VAG motors.

Brilliant and easy set-up
Was a bit skeptical about buying one of these are some of the reviews and owning such a new phone but it was really easy to get set-up.Slots into the socket very easily, I advise looking where your socket is before hand as mine was behind a cover and it is a bit tough to get the cover back on with this sticking out. (Glad I went for this one as it's one of the smaller ones)I only bought this to use with an app called Dash which measures your mpg and journeys. I was a bit worried about it working with my Nexus 5 running 4.4 Kitkat but it worked fine after going through the possible pairing passwords written on the packaging. Not much else to say but very quick service from the 3rd party retailer.Happy Chappy

Top marks
Bought this to check an engine fault on my 2010 Mitsubishi Colt. Picked up the fault straight away using Torque and allowed me to check Cylinder One (unfortunately was the injector rather than plug or coil) but this meant I could let the garage know and not have to pay £50 or thereabouts for them to diagnose the fault. So it's paid for itself in one hit.I shan't go on too much as other reviewers have handled the more technical aspects admirably.I now leave it plugged in to the port and occasionally check what my engine is doing, how my MPG is and how efficient my driving is.Excellent value and the Bluetooth reader was picked up and paired instantly without issue. Worked straight out of the box.

Does the trick
I had this plugged into my tuned Audi to just handle some of the quick codes that would come up. Worked great... wish I removed it when I sold the car. (Facepalm)

No iPhone support..but there is a work around, Also works with Appradio 3 Dashcommand app
I just bought this and was excited to install and start using. After installing this in my car (2009 Hyundai) I could not get a Bluetooth signal / connection. I purchased Dashcommand on the app store and found I also need to be jail broken (which I am). I'm going to try this and report back:Update: The solution below worked for me. I have an iPhone 5 with IOS 7 (Jail broken). Install the version(s) of RoqyBT & RoqyODB, version 7 found in Cydia (not the app store) and make sure your factory Bluetooth on the iPhone is turned off. Use the RoqyBT7 Bluetooth app to connect to the ODB II dongle and follow the instructions below...good luckHere is the content from the post I read: Not by me."So I ordered a cheap $15 ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 adapter on eBay. I read that Bluetooth OBD readers couldn't be used with iOS unless you jailbreak. I always jailbreak my devices but there was a long wait for iPhone 5 users. I got an app from Cydia called RoqyBT/RoqyOBD and then I installed Dash Command. RoqyBT allows the OBD2 reader to connect to the iOS device but there is a 5 euro cost. I paid the license fee, and setup using IP in Dash Command. 127.0.0.1 and port 35000 had to be manually entered into Dash Command so RoqyBT can communicate with the Dash Command app.So I have to say it works and it works really well!! Dash Command is a really cool app packed full of information and data logging capabilities. It doesn't have the customization capabilities of Torque but for those that only have an iOS device this is the next best thing. Setup was way easier than I anticipated and there is no lag at all when monitoring information. I was impressed by how accurate and fast the tach is on Dash Command and all of the other gauges work well too. I'm going to make a mount to temporarily mount my iPhone to see how well the accelerometer features work. I was planning on mounting a Nexus 7 tablet permanently for the Torque app and I've had some discussions with @2forme regarding a full android deck so we'll see where this project goes... I've been short on time lately but hopefully in the not too distant future I'll have time to really make something cool to integrate a tablet or android deck with this platform car."

Perfetto !
