Hi,  
Lepicol is an insoluble fibre made from Psyillium, which is plant based, and there is nothing unnatural in it.

This type of fibre passes through the digestive system, which whilst cleansing also gently assists motility, that is the waste passing through the system.   This of course gives better and more regular bowel movements.

It can also be of use in diarrhoea, depending on the cause, by adding substance to the stools.

Besides Psyllium husk, Lepicol also contains a prebiotic and probiotic which is also good for intestinal flora, which in turn all leads to a healthier body in general.

The large tubs of the powder are the most economical.  A typical dose is  1 or 2 heaped teaspoons dissolved in a glass of water once or twice daily 35 minutes before a meal, and drunk straight down.  An extra glass of water is also recommended because the more water the better it works.  The consistency is very sludgy and slimy but there is little taste and no smell.

Fybogel is a similar psyllium based product available on prescription too.  However, although Lepicol is expensive,  I find that it is the best you can buy.  It is made with the best ingredients and works far better for me than Fybogel, which would often bloat me.

Although my diet is very good, I take prescription medication which has constipation as a side effect. Lepicol greatly assists in treating this, along with occasional Senna or Dulcolax.  Lepicol is very gentle.

If you are generally in good health and don’t have any issues like constipation then I would concentrate on getting what you need from diet, such as lots of prunes which are also a very strong antioxidant too.
