We got it so as to have a bit of fun on the lead up to Christmas and, to "motivate" the kids to be on best behavior all the time. Well, what can I say. The kids just love it - first thing every morning they run downstairs to see what mischief he has gotten up to. If they are misbehaving, we just remind them that the elf is here and they (generally) revert back to their well-behaved selves. The story that comes with it is a nice read.
