Best dog food is Royal Canin by far - dogs love it!
Great dog food for the price, my 10 +year chihuahua and new Chi Shi puppy 🐶 both share this dog food, recommended by my vet for years. The older dog usually eats the adult version, but the puppy version has smaller balls which makes it easier for her to chew. They have been sharing the same bag.

Great for Picky Eaters
The media could not be loaded. This food is great. We originally had our Chihuahua puppy on the Science Diet puppy food, however we found he wasn't eating enough and didn't seem to like the SD food. After hours of research, I finally settled on this Royal Canin food. The RC brand seemed to have good reputation for quality foods and I was hoping food specifically designed for Chihuahua puppies would satisfy my little picky eater.Well luckily I was correct! Even when I added the RC food to the SD food, my puppy would pick out the RC food and refused to eat the SD food (see video). Luckily, we were able to slowly convert him over without issue. He doesn't chow it down every time he eats, however he now eats enough each day. The size of the kibble is good for him and the smell is standard for dog food. I do wish it was a little cheaper, but luckily the adult food is less expensive and he'll be of age soon.Overall, I would recommend this puppy food.

The benefits for the Chihuahua Breed
I like the fact that it is made just for the Chihuahua breed from the amount they need, down to the size of the kibble designed just for their little jaws. My dogs, an older and a puppy really love their food now. Before it was a hit and miss. Beings one is older, and one is a puppy we mix their kibbles with a little bit of warm water to soften the food up a little bit. I feed my older Chihuahua the Royal Canin for Chihuahua Adult food. Both dogs love it, its nice to see them excited about eating again. Thank you Royal Canin.

Best breed selective food in my opinion. Less waste and no foul smell.
I had been using Royal Canin Chihuahua throughout the course of my two furbabygirls lives. I just lost them at 15 and 15-1/2. They were littermates. This food seemed to always be palatable and easily digestible for both girls throughout their life stages bar their last few difficult days. They were allowed free access to their meals and did not overeat. Their bodies knew how much they required and their stools were normal, consistent and basically had no unpleasant odor. For some odd reason, my applehead girl had the habit of picking out the black morsals and eating the rest. I would akin it to me as a child picking out the lucky charms marshmallows and leaving the oats. 🤣 I never quite understood her! Her sister, would eat like there was no tomorrow. No choosy chi there.I am expecting my precious new fur puppy babygirl in the next couple of weeks and she will also be started on Royal Canin Puppy.Only the best for my girls.

Talk to Vet
I fed nothing but Royal Canin Chihuahua to my last Chi and then to my new baby, however after a couple of years (not realizing at the time it could be the food) she began having "episodes" not really seizures, because seizures last only a short time and these episodes lasted for hours sometimes. They were sporadic and neither I nor her vet could figure out, nor wanted to put her through multiple test to maybe find out what was causing them. Maybe not. She began not wanting to eat the food and I slowly switched to another high quality dry kibble feed, vet approved, which made her "episodes" worse and began happening more frequent. I then tried Science Diet, and she has not had a episode since, ( thank goodness)... I'm not saying Royal Canin is to blame for her problem, I just relating my situation with her. Also I am not now or have ever been employed or received any compensation by any pet food company for my review or opinion. My Chi baby has been eating Science Diet now for 5 months and to date has not had another seizure. Talk with your vet and get their expertise, knowledge and advise to be safe and to provide the very best care possible.
