The best sharpening system I've used.
I use a wide variety of knives on a daily basis, from large victorinox butchers knives to my trusty Buck 110 which never leaves my pocket. Over the years I've used numerous knife sharpeners but usually resort back to my old wet stone. On recommendation of a friend I bought the Lansky Professional Sharpening kit. It truly is superb. Buy the pedestal mount to go with the kit, it makes life really easy. Have a look on YouTube for a few tips, but it really is very easy to use. Be very careful with the end result - my knives are sharp enough to shave the hairs off your arm, extremely sharp! They are quick to maintain using one of the finer polishing stones, and don't strip the metal like cheap V sharpening blocks. An excellent product that I wish I'd discovered earlier.

Best knife sharpening system I've used yet
Weird but works. I've had great results so far, though the technique required is akin to rubbing your tummy and patting your head at the same time. Once you've got use to the motion/technique, you'll be glad you invested. The knife clamp needs some kind of support and hand holding it, as shown in the promo photo, seems neither effective nor safe. I'm a keen DIYer so I don't mind making my own little holder for the clamp but if you're not into making your own stuff, you need to go for the, frankly overpriced, stand. As other reviewers have commented, Aaron from Gough Custom has a great demo video on YouTube.

Gets the job done
At first when using this I wasn't very impressed. It's sloppy (the rods flap around in the holes), it seems expensive for what it is and doesnt even include a 15 degree option. However after having used it to sharpen a few knives is hard to argue with the fact it really does work and works well. I can only presume that the reason for this is they have used good quality stones and it guides just enough to allow the operator to get good results. My only gripe is it does seem really expensive for what you get. If they had included the stand or even slightly larger stones I think it's would have been a great buy, but with current prices it's a bit meh... But like I said, it does work well so...

Poor quality control
Also see my review of the C clamp for this. Once again, there seems to be little or no quality control for Lansky products There is supposed to be a small lip on the clamp which holds the knife, in order to hold small knives. On the one that was delivered to me (10 days later than the estimated arrival time and therefore too late for Christmas), there was not enough of a lip to fit anything in. The clamp is so badly formed, that if I were not aware that there was supposed to be a lip, I would not have realised there was one. The first knife that I wanted to sharpen was from my Swiss Card. It is a small knife that I should have used the lip for, but was unable to do so. The second quality issue is that the clamp itself is so poor that the knife is difficult not to move within the clamp due to a high spot which clamps only one place, rather than the width of the clamp (as it should). My son also received one of these items for Christmas and he has exactly the same problems with it. Once again, this is purported to be a quality American made product, but I have found the quality to be no better than chinese products (maybe even worse?) that I have purchased. At this price point this is a very disappointing product as far as quality is concerned!!! Having said that, I have given it 3 stars as it does seem to sharpen well even though the knife moves around in the clamp. At the moment, my knives are NOT as sharp as I want or expect from this system but I am hoping that this is down to my inexperience at using it. It only came today and I have attempted to sharpen 3 knives so far. They are quite bad, so take a long time.

Best sharpening kit i have used
I have used a fair few sharpening kits over the years and by far this is the best though probably the most expensive too. Good array of stones in different grades makes for a razor sharp edge on anything you are sharpening. The add on workbench clamp/mount however is not worth the money in my oppinion. This works as well hand held and better to spend the extra on getting all of the grades of stones instead.

Fantastic for beginners'
I'd always struggled sharpening my knives with a steel or stone - This system turned my old and knackered outdoors knife back into the razer sharp instrument it was when I first bought it. Few areas the design could be better but considering its compact design its very goof quality and value for money - Feels like it will last a long time

Easy to use
Having struggled with a whetstone, this system is far more idiot proof and got some old dull knives really sharp once more. So happy I invested in this.

Be Carefull
This is a great little product, compact and easy to use, results are great, not professional but still for the money it works well. The clamp is a little fiddly to tighten as you need to hold the clamp and the knife and the screwdriver but it is possible with care. I would suggest you get the little clamp mounting arm too as you do need to have it sturdy to get good results rather than holding the clamp in one hand and moving the stones with the other. Thats it really, just BE CAREFUL once they are sharp the are SHARP and if you slip cutting stuff, where before you may have got away with it you definitely wont and you will be sorry.

Cheap metal, sloppy fitting. 17' doesn't work as set screw in way. Waste of money

This is the best value for money sharpener out there. Not stupidly expensive but not cheap. Stones are good quality and last a long time. The angle guide is a proven design Lansky invented like 35 years ago. Still one of the best. Yes the holder digs into your hand so wear cut resistant gloves when sharpening. All things considered for the money these are good performing accurate sharpeners. I trust my really good knives to these. If you care for your knives and want repeatable sharpening angles, long life stones and scary sharp knives buy Lansky.
