If it were copper clad, it would be copper clad aluminum, not steel. But it isn’t. It’s just copper. I’ve cut a dozen of these up and they have copper, NOT CCA. Ignore the doofus’. **Q: A stupid question: how long will I need to be a sub-woofer cable before it loses signal?** A: Wrong. A standard non-powered HDMI can only go up to about 49 feet. If it is powered using some sort of amplification device such as a booster or whatever you want to call it, it can reach lengths up to 980 feet of you use a powered fiber optic extender. Standard range non-powered is only 49’. So any manufacturer that says they have 100’ hdmi cables, be careful as it will have degradation. **Q: Will this work for a 5.1 ss system? have a powered sub-woofer with speaker cable to two satellite speakers. broken pin in one, no sound.** A: I don't know what the 'ss' means, but this is a two-lead RCA connector coax (ie shielded) cable with Au plated connectors. Works great for me.
