Q: Can the blades be replaced when dull?

No, and it's why I had to throw mine away. The main slicing blade got burrs and no longer sliced well. What a waste of money and very big design flaw.

Q: Does the cubing version designed and works exactly the same way (and just as well) as the slicer, just with the addition of cubing?

The cubing feature on the model shown in the picture works very well for me but I have had a lot of experience with a mandolin.
