I want to use my ordinanry new home sewing machine for basic freestyle embroidery. is this thread suitable? and can i wind my own bobbins with it?

I have done just this with my Brother sewing machine and wound the bobbins in the same way as normal thread. I have found that if you use the same thread in the bobbin it is helpful with the tension.
