FJÄLLRÄVEN Greenland Wax

I had some waxed canvas and had already made one canvas bag with it but doe some reason, even though the fabric looked perfectly fine when the time came to make the second one, for some reason over night it had started to look spotty as per ‘before’ image. I don’t know if it was due to the sunshine through the window of my craft room but I needed to try something to improve it as u guessed it was the wax drying out. I did some research online and this brand came up as recommended so I wanted to give it a go. I wanted wax treatment that was straightforward to apply and this certainly is. It says to use a soft brush to remove dirt and debris but as I was using new fabric, I omitted that step and went straight in to applying the wax. It looks like a bar of near transparent soap and I had expected to get through it quickly. I followed the instructions and applied by rubbing the bar evenly across the fabric (which was a bag at this point) and used my hairdryer to cure it. I loved how the wax seemed to disappear into thr fabric. It took a lot of layers but wow…there was a lovely difference…the colour and the texture of the fabric changed. You have to be very patient and keep applying until you get the result you want. The bag is now waterproof again and a richer colour. Sadly it doesn’t look glassy like the fabric did when purchased but I’m guessing a different method/wax wails have been used to get that effect. For a bag, I am very happy with the result and it would have taken just a couple of hours to get to this stage but I did it in intervals and even the next morning to top it up. There is no odour from it which is good. I have researched but cannot find another way to get the sheen…someone said to buff it up afterward but I’m not sure how to do that. However, absolutely really impressed and it barely used any of the bar of wax at all…still left with plenty. The price of this bar seemed a lot as I had imagined it wouldn’t go far but as I said, there is loads left after doing lots of layers in the bag which for me, makes it great value.

It does what it says on the tin. So why four stars? Because it's a bit of a pain to use. The results are that it works but it's when how you can use a garment you have it on. Early on id apply it, weather the garment and then it'd need cleaned and I'd have to do it again, what I've fallen into is not doing all the garment. I do the fronts of the thighs, the calves and the ring around the bottom of the legs about 20cm up. I then don't clean them even if they're getting mucky. When they do need cleaned I wash them in the shower with soapy water in a spray and the shower head.

Very easy to use. Not greasy like Barbour wax. Gives a good invisible waterproof coating. Good value.

Having never used wax before I wasn't sure what to expect however the process really couldn't be easier. I experimented on an old baseball cap that I wear working outdoors which had been washed too many times and lost its proofing but was too comfy to chuck. I had been concerned that the wax would feel tacky or smell waxy. Neither were the case. The wax did not need to be prewarmed just stroked over the surface and a hair dryer on high was sufficient to make it absorb into the twill. I tested each coat by flicking with water and although there was some proofing effect from the first coat I went for three coats at which point the effect was superior to proofing with Nikwax. A further coat might be good for full on downpours but not needed for this item's proposed use. The hardness of the bar seems to stop you over applying and the finish was not at all patchy, instead the previously faded khaki twill darkened a few shades and looked refreshed and much newer. This is an easy job that could be done in an evening in front of the TV although for bigger items is probably going to require a bit of patience. The bar itself is barely touched after 3 coats of this small item and I am very satisfied by the value for money as I have several projects in mind after this successful test including a denim jacket and am confident that the wax will stretch.

I bought this from Amazon and had a good price from this seller. The wax does what it says on the packet, have used it on two Fjällräven jackets and its easy to use, works well and keeps them in good order. Basically I appreciate you'll only buy this if you need it, it was worth getting it from here as the price was good.

I have been using this kanken backpack for about a year now, and it is quite worn out. For that reason I decided to re-coat it with wax. The water resistance is still not as nice as it was when I first bought it, although, it did improve it a bit. The instructions on how to use it were clear and easy to follow, but it took about 20 minutes to fully apply it to the bag. On the photo you can see it left a bit of a gloss on it. Also the price is reasonable for the amount of wax you receive. Overall, I am generally quite pleased with this product.

Das Wachs lässt sich mühelos auftragen und gleichmäßig in den Stoff einarbeiten. Bereits nach dem Einbügeln merkt man, wie Wasser deutlich besser abperlt und die Oberfläche widerstandsfähiger wird. Besonders bei Outdoor-Jacken zeigt sich der Effekt sofort: weniger Feuchtigkeit, weniger Schmutzaufnahme und spürbar mehr Schutz vor Wind. Die Dose hält lange, da man nur wenig Material benötigt. Für die regelmäßige Pflege von G-1000-Gewebe oder anderen Baumwollmischungen ist das eine sehr effektive und nachhaltige Lösung. Fazit: Ein hochwertiges Pflegeprodukt, das Stoffe zuverlässig imprägniert und ihre Lebensdauer verlängert. Für Outdoor-Bekleidung absolut empfehlenswert.

Muy bien y fácil de usar, pues no hay que andar fundiendo en baño maría, sino que lo frotas, como si fuera una tiza (se queda blanquecina la superficie). Después le pasas el secador de pelo y funde inmediatamente. ¿Resultados?: echando agua encima, parte se hace bolitas y resbala (parte sigue entrando. Necesita varios encerados para impermeabilizar del todo). Lo importante: viaje de 30 minuto en moto naked (sin protecciones) con una buena tormenta y no ha traspasado al forro ni una gota. A la vuelta, otra media hora, el chamarro se notaba húmedo; pero , más luvia y no traspasó. Además, le da un aspecto más "viejo" al chamarro. Eso sí, se tarda en aplicarla por toda la superficie. Yo estuve cerca de hora y media y tengo que darle otra capa; pero esperaré a que vuelvan las lluvias. ahora toca calor. Respecto a rendimiento, tras una palicación larga, sólo he gastado los 8 bordes de la pastilla. Así como una décima parte del total.
