I've always put the arrow pointing toward the front of the machine, as that is the direction it pointed on the filter that was in place when I bought it.

Anyone tried this as a replacement to fellowes true hepa filter large [for 300 air purifier] ref 9370101 (no longer available) ? appears to be similar

I have used these for years. A necessary piece of equipment. If changed regularly, it keep the air flow in the room clean and prolongs the life of the machine it fits into. Certainly they are not a waste of money in my experience and I have found that they are an aid for much better breathing for anyone with difficulty.
