Needed to buy a Y-cable for a bulky hard drive I was using with one of my consoles; this one did the job. One slight note to add is that the USB ends are not actually gold, like the image displays. This doesn't effect its quality, however, so I don't mind!

I was expecting this to provide additional power to an iPad Air 2 while having it connected to a laptop.At present, the USB 3.0 socket on the laptop does not have enough power to charge the iPad but leaves it "Not Charging". Using the male power usb cable on this USB does not appear to charge the iPad or an iPhone 6.I suspect this to be an issue with apple devices?I have have tested this on an Android phone and found both cables do provide charge.

I thought I was clutching at straws by buying this, but it solved my problem!The DVB TV dongle I own would disconnect and reconnect randomly, causing the associated software to simply close, thereby making off-air recordings a dismayingly hit-and-miss operation. I couldn't believe it was a power-related problem; after all my laptop can happily power a 2.5" mechanical USB hard drive, so surely a solid-state device would be no trouble. It does seem, however, that for some reason these SDR (Software-Defined Radio) devices are quite power-hungry.Well, at any rate this cable worked; both plugs go in the laptop: both take power (but only one carries data) and with the combined current of two USB sockets there is enough for my fussy DVB dongle, which plugs into the socket on the other end of the cable. I've used it a few times with no problem and I couldn't be happier (well, unless it came with a free slice of cake).
