These were a great buy, with 6 in a pack for only a bit more than what it costs for single eggs from some other manufacturers.A few notes:- My boxes each had 6 different dinosaurs, which I believe is a change from people's earlier experiences. This is a welcome adjustment from the seller!- There is only one set of "tools" per box, so if you are planning on having multiple children digging at the same time, you'll need to improvise additional tools. We used leftover takeout chopsticks.- The dinosaurs inside are relatively fragile - they are not plastic but a kind of clay/ceramic. In most cases, limbs/tails were broken off in the process of digging the dino out. The kids didn't seem too upset by that, but had I known I would have warned them to be more careful when digging around the appendages. This one flaw warrants 4 stars from me instead of 5.- The digging process takes a while! On average kids were happily digging for at least 30 minutes. A great rainy-day activity or something to do when you need them occupied for a half hour or more! But...- ...the digging process is VERY messy. Get ready for serious dust and chunks of plastery stuff all over the work area and your child. The kids loved getting dirty and everything cleaned up easily off of surfaces and clothes, but think carefully about where you set the activity up.All in all a great little activity to keep kids engaged and occupied, building fine motor skills and attention span...and maybe even giving the adults a little stretch of quiet!

... is harder to get off and seems to stick better to hands and cloths
They are made of plaster put different from the ones I have seen in the past and the powder is harder to get off and seems to stick better to hands and cloths. Also they dinosaurs tend to break easily (tails mostly) when you are digging them out. The dino's are made of a hard plastic. It was still fun for my child, but a pain to clean up.

Fun activity
My 4 and 6 year olds had fun "hatching" these. Be gentle when scraping around the Dinos when you find them as you could break their leg or tail in the process. It's a messy activity but we all had fun doing it!

Fun in the sandbox!
I hid these in my two year old son's sand box, and was awesome! He had do much fun digging for these. The dinosaurs inside a rather useless, but the whole idea is great. It is something I'm planning on using at his birthday party.

Good fun for digging
Our 7 year old daughter loves dinosaurs and has enjoyed the Smithsonian brand "digging / excavation" toys. This is a great, affordable alternative. The eggs really do keep kids occupied to dig / open them. Each has a very small plastic dinosaur inside. If you are getting this for the dinosaur that is inside, pick something else, as the dinosaur inside is not really big enough or designed to be a toy. It is more of a surprise for kids to find as they dig through the eggs.

My son is totally into dinosaurs! Loves "excavating"....unfortunately these are hard to crack through, and once you get to the actual dinosaurs, the arms/legs/tails break off

Great for dino preschool theme!!
My preschoolers loved these!! I put them in the sensory table since they are messy and kept them entertained for long periods of time. My 3 year okds struggled to actually get into the dino but they still loved it, 4 & 5 year olds loved it and took about 20 minutes to to dino.
