It is a good starting point for any age. Some of its methods employ sharp cutting tools and are inherently less safe for young and inexperienced users unless properly instructed and supervised. Foam is perfectly safe for the very youngest as it needs use nothing sharper than a old knitting needle as the 'engraving' tool but it may have a limited scope. The author offers a variety of advice and suggestions, all of which are reasoned and explained.It isn't a complete guide as a number of alternative methods are omitted but is is an excellent and thorough introduction to a limited range (the more popular) with sufficient detail within its 144 pages to get anyone started in one or more of its processes. Unfortunately, it is of American origin and the sources quoted are US-based but there are several good UK alternatives of which many are on-line. Although it is possible to buy appropriate 'starter kits' which each include some basic equipment and sometimes media, a wider range of tools possibly of better quality can be later purchased as and when experience builds. Media is available in various sizes, some in bulk rolls which can be more economical for the frequent print-maker.A valuable resource whether starting out or re-learning half-forgotten skills and there may be some recent innovations in ideas and materials to explore. Other than lino-cutting which was learned long ago at school, the remaining processes are relatively recent and previously not used. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Temporally cured of my HATE for review's it's that good *by M***N on 2 June 2018* Worth more, than it costs,contains all you need to know and things you didn't know you needed to know , how to layer up, adding colour and how to develop (if you want) what you have learned to a "final piece " of art / home craft . Its great because you can do as much or as little as you want it . Printing creates good effects with little effort wow very clean ,brand new fresh and fast thanks ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply outstanding *by M***S on 10 August 2020* An absolute wealth of information and inspiration on various methods of printmaking at home. Rich in scope, and unusual in that it is not only contains detailed instruction and guidance; the book also boasts a whole section on the work of practicing artists. And the quality of the explanations in the first section actually makes some of the ideas feel within reach!
