Battery Base for Echo Dot (5th generation), Made for Amazon White

The media could not be loaded. IWith out being prompted, I just had to write a review for this Amazon Echo base to help others sort a problem I've had for a long time. I already own an Echo device, but I wanted music/radio in the bathroom where there is no power socket. For a long time I've struggled with other brands of Alexa enabled portable speakers. I want to be able to just say Alexa play ..... first thing in the morning when going for a shower without going into an app. Then I discovered almost by accident, that this Alexa battery stand does exactly what I need. Just unplug and go, then pop the connector back when finished. It makes the Echo device completely portable. As the Echo has a temperature sensor, I can take it to the greenhouse to ensure the tomatoes are not too hot or even outside in the garden when having a BBQ.It's important to know it works on the house Wi-fi, so can't be taken out of range.Instructions state battery lasts 5 hours although I've not used on just battery power for that long. It's been fine for my needs.When not using the battery, it just sits in the cradle charging with clever technology stopping it from over charging.If your Echo is already set up, then this simply plugs in. I was moments away from buying a different brand speaker when I found this stand.

First impression out of the box is this is a quality product seems well built . Don’t lose the the small attachment you’ll need this to ensure you echo is connected to the battery base . Can’t comment on the claimed battery life yet but early indications it works as as intended without a hitch . Definitely recommend this at the moment but hoping it remains robust .

Great item but does not have a on or off button. So its constantly on, even when echo dot is not on - waste of charge

Really easy to move around the house without having to plug in !

This battery base looks good and is simple to set up. However, the battery life is extremely short. It also seems that there is no off switch for the base. This means that if you use the base for half an hour and then switch the Alexa off, the battery base continues to run down its battery. This means that every time you go back to use it, the battery is dead. I was hoping for a base that I could leave in my bathroom for a few days at a time before having to recharge, but it isn’t fit for that purpose.

I have had this 9mths now and the battery does not last very long at all and if not used for a few days it also loses it's charge. I find this battery pack very poor compared to one I got for an early echo dot ( the flat one) which by contrast I hadn't used for a few months and was still three quarters charged. Also there's no indicator to tell you how much charge you have left. To say this was recommended for the latest echo dot I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Amazon standards slipping on this pairing.
