This one is for hand bread baking only. There are tins and boxed sachets of yeast in all good supermarkets and you need the one that stipulates it can be used in a bread making machine. The sachets are the best as you keep the other sachets sealed and fresh the tin once its open I believe has a shorter life. I got mine for bread makers in Tesco have also see 2 types in Sainburys.I don't use other supermarkets as they are too few and far between for me so can't comment on them. Hope this all helps. **Q: Is use by date important** A: If it says 'Use By' then it is important. If it says 'Best Before' then you can just try it. It's unlikely to cause you any harm. If you follow the instructions and it becomes active then it will probably work.
