They were comfortable from the minute I put them on. The zippers on each side make them very easy to get into and out of without having to tug on the tops. I haven't really used them yet, so can't speak to how they wear or how well they keep my feet dry in the rain. I usually wear an 8 wide in women's shoes. I ordered these in a size 8 and had to return them and get the size 9. It wasn't the width that got me, as it is with most footwear, it was the actual length - a bit too short for my usually size 8 foot. The 9s are perfect. I have muscular, fairly large legs and the fit around the calf area is fine. She has a high inseam but it fit right out of the box. 95% of the use was while sitting on the back of the bike. 5% was walking into restaurants, hotels and scenic tours while riding. She had zero complaints, although they her feet got warm while riding in 80-90 degree weather.We were both impressed with the level of waterproofing. We rode through two torrential downpours on back roads (branches down, rivers of muddy water running across the road) and her feet stayed perfectly dry.
