I've been waiting for a consumer level (inexpensive) device that can clone a SATA drive directly to an NVME drive. This allows me to easily upgrade a client's older computer image to a new computer that supports NVME drives. I simply clone their older SATA drive to an NVME and put the NVME in the new computer. With this device, you can also clone an NVME drive to a SATA drive if that is something you want to do. Very useful tool. Perhaps the only thing that is unusual is that the device is designed in such a way that it has an enclosure in which you can install the NVME and SATA drive in a plastic tray which can then go inside a metal enclosure. My main interest in purchasing this product is to clone drive images between SATA and NVME (or vice versa) and I imagine that otherwise would also be purchasing it for this same reason. So, I think the design would be better if it were more in the style of a docking station in which you temporarily insert source and destination drives, perform your clone and remove the drives from the device, rather than a design that seems to be more along the lines of a permanent enclosure in which you install the drives with screws and then screw on an outer metal shell. Despite the current design, it is nice to finally have a cloning device that can work with mixed drive types.

I had the need for speed, and these enclosure gave it to me by simply inserting the drives and screwing the case together. While it does come with a power supply, I am powering it through a 100 W USB C 3.2 hub. I bought 2 of them. I am very very happy about it. the USB 3.1 speed increase improves my data throughput by a lot over USB 3. I am adding my 2.5 inch SSD Drives and M.2 SSD drives onto a 100W USB C powered 10Gbps hub that has made me buy 2 of these, 2 M.2 SSD enclosures, a full set of high speed cables, and these are a dream. I will now have 10 mixed types of USB 3.1 and 3.2 SSD drives all available at the same time with a major speed upgrade.

The cables that came with this thing were unreliable and slow. I replaced them with quality USB C cables that were 10Gbit cables capable of 100 Watts, and even with a 6 foot cable, it works like a charm. The included cables were a bit short, but even using the short cables, it caused issues with disconnects and slow speeds. Swapping it out for better cables all around made the difference for me, and now I'm happy with the purchase.Let's face it, this was an inexpensive enclosure. Considering the price of a reliable USB C high speed data cable, there's no way they could have included one. That's my opinion, and that and $10 might get you a cup of coffee if you show a little leg to the barista. (Inflation sucks.)

I got this to clone a 128GB PCIe M.2 drive to a 1TB PCIe M.2 drive. To do that directly, the devices run about $130 to $200+! This is substantially less and also has a few extra benefits. Yes, you need to clone the M.2 to a SATA HDD first and then clone the SATA HDD to the new M.2, but this item also works as a hot swap device for desktop or laptop HDDs and for the old M.2! Granted, you will need to create a partition for the additional space on the new drive if you use the automated clone feature, but there is software available to avoid this, if you do the clone through a computer. Either way, the process is fairly simple and straight forward and this is definitely a worthwhile purchase.

To be usb c this enclosure is trash, speed tested a wd black 12tb in this enclosure and the fastest it would read or write was 44mbs. In the wd black original enclosure speeds were like 288mbs read or write. If you want a slow reading or writing enclosure pick this trash. Sending it back ASAP!!!!!!

Used this enclosure for an internal 14TB hard drive. Everything was included, along with a small screwdriver. Installation of the drive was fairly easy.There are markings underneath the drive for the adhesive foot pads but they are located where the screws go for holding the enclosure together. The foot pads would cover the screws so the screw heads are not visible but who looks underneath the enclosure when the enclosure is sitting on a flat surface? I proceeded to place the adhesive food pads right next to each marking to leave the screws exposed in case I need to replace the hard drive.The internal tray that holds the hard drive appears to be made of plastic, and the outer shell is made of metal.

Its good if you just wanna store stuff and access it at times, but its definitely not meant for active uses like running anything off the actual drive for constant access. If you wanna put your game library drive in this enclosure, you will probably have long load times in game and you may even have occasional game crashes. I had issues playing valorant, overwatch, GTA V, and minecraft off this drive. yes, even minecraft. GLHF

I tested a couple older SATA to USB adapters, all of them performed slower than this one. The other adapters were in the 250mb/s range on both Mac and PC (using Blackmagic disk tester) but this one was a little over 400mb/s using the same drive (Samsung EVO 860 250gb). I like the transparency of the case as I can easily see what drive is installed. It's lightweight and the connections seem to be tight enough. I bought two of these. Hopefully they will both last. Only had them for a day so far... may update review if need be.
