These pillowcases are a silk-satin. That means that the inside of the pillowcase is dull and not super smooth, but the outside, where we place our skin and hair, is super satiny smooth. I have curly hair, and noticed after I got my first silk pillowcase that I could take a nap (not a usual activity for me), and when I got up, my curls were not a disaster like they are when I sleep on a cotton pillowcase. I ordered a purple one first, which was more of a dull aubergine, but still technically purple. I dye my hair purple, and the first week after the dye job (oVertone, great product) there is some color transfer on my white cotton pillowcases, but it washes out. So if the purple dye transfers to a purple silk pillow case, no big deal. So I got a second one. Finally, I decided to get a pair of white silk pillowcases. These are just as wonderful as the purple ones. I hand washed them and let them drip dry from soaking wet. I did press them because I am just like that. They are so fluid and liquid. Since I just got the white ones, I haven't had a chance to put them on my pillow, but tonight is the night. I sleep well on these, and my curls are still nice in the morning, which says to me that less damage is happening to my hair. The zipper on all 4 of my cases has been very functional and sturdy, so no complaints there. Let's talk about caring for these items. They ARE silk, and silk is fussy and the fibers will break in the washer and especially the dryer. If you choose to wash them like that, you should know what will happen. My silk cases have stained a bit from my nighttime moisturizer and the remnants of my eyeliner. (I probably wear too much, but I wear makeup for me, no one else.) Sometimes I will treat the eyeliner with blue Dawn, but it doesn't always work. But I knew this would happen, so I will live with it. My bedroom is not a public place, so if the pillowcases are not perfect, who cares? I use them for my face and my curls. Finally, I must say this. I have seen reviews with photos, and the photos show pillowcases ON THE PILLOW still with the shipping folds in the fabric. It looks like the buyer just took the pillowcase out of the package and put it on the pillow without washing it. Please don't do that. When any fiber item is made, whether a garment or a towel or bedding, the factory does NOT wash the fabric. The fabric is woven/spun/knitted, and put on bolts; the bolts are shipped to the factory where the item is made. The item is cut and sewn, then shipped to the vendor who ships it to the buyer. At no point is the fabric washed. That is why you should always wash anything that comes in contact with your skin: towels, bedding, underwear, etc. The factories, especially in China, do not put much effort into cleanliness. Rant over. These are great pillowcases. They are good for my skin and protect my purple curls.

Gorgeous pillowcases! Very nicely made, and intensely black in colour. I love the zipper closure; I don't think I can go back to fold-over closures ever again. The zipper keeps the case in place, which is great because otherwise it'd slip right off the pillow. They fit well on standard size pillows; if you use a memory foam pillow they might not fill out to all the edges, but it doesn't matter since the zipper keeps the pillow from sliding out. If your pillow is REALLY puffy, it make take a little effort to stuff 'em in, but it's worth it. If you have a cooling pillow, these silk pillowcases really enhance the cooling effect somehow, really comfortable sleeping (especially in hot weather). I typically sleep in a bonnet, but that sometimes feels a bit oppressive and my head would like to breath at night, so these silk pillow cases are super helpful at keeping my hair protected while still being out and loose. They wash well on a delicate setting in cold water, and I always hang them to dry. I didn't experience any dye running in the wash, but I'm not sure if any dye may leach if sleeping on them with wet/damp hair, since I never do that to begin with, or if it is a particularly sweaty night. I don't think it will since nothing happened in the wash, but if staining the pillow is a concern, using a pillow protector or another pillowcase first, and then slipping on the silk one may help. Either way, I'll be getting more of these for sure!

This pillowcase is awesome. I bought mine about 14 months ago, use it almost every night (except when I’m washing it!), and it still looks brand new!! (The texture you see in the photo is my pillow, not the pillow case.) I bought this because I have curly hair. I had tried a different brand but it was just meh. The zipper closure on this brand is great if you’re like me and move around a lot in your sleep. The material feels smooth and luxurious and doesn’t snag like the other brand did. When I go back to my regular pillowcases, I can really tell the difference with my hair. The smooth material of these helps to keep my hair from frizzing out so much. I’ve been more than pleased with this pillowcase. And, it’s affordable! After over a year of constant use, I’m a total fan. I plan to buy more! Highly recommend!

Softer than my satin pillowcases & has reduced my frizz from tossing and turning. The zipper works well and they fit my pillows alright. I didn't notice any smell. They also survived the washer and dryer on my usual cycle which was great. I got two for my bed and wash them weekly with my sheets & have had no resulting acne or irritation. I also really like that the color of the zipper matches the pillow

I bought this because I wanted to try a silk pillowcase for my hair, and I’ve been really happy with it. I chose the Haze Blue color, and it’s beautiful in person. I got a new pair of these after having owned another pair for several years and, for some reason, the new pair is “shedding” what feels like plastic fibers and is pilling right where my head goes. I’m not entirely sure why this is occurring as I haven’t changed anything in terms of how I care for them, but it’s made the cases extremely rough and scratchy. I’m tempted to get one more pair just in case this is a fluke but I’d rather the manu send me a pair for comp as it’s only been two months

This is super silky and lovely. Seriously so nice. But so slippery for me. Lol I felt like I was chasing my pillow around the whole night it was slip slidding away. My son now has it and loves it. Maybe on the sheets I have it made it way to slippery. My 9 yr old doesn't have the same problem. He loves it and won't give it back!!
