A beautiful turntable
Build quality was my first thought when buying a turntable, I didn't want something flimsy and light, I wanted a unit that had some heft to it. The PLX 1000 is built like a tank, and its very heavy, it has a solid platter a thick rubber mat that does not just dampen vibration it eliminates them altogether. comes with 2 other mats, for scratching, it looks gorgeous and the sound quality from the deck is beautiful, I have a Nagaoka MP 110 cartridge I have not used yet, I got a second head shell as a spare and that came with an Audio Technica cartridge AT3600L and its a cheap cartridge but my god on this turntable sounds great, punchy, great bass and very clear, for the price Its a great cartridge. So even a £20.00 cartridge sounds fantastic, I cant recommend the Pioneer PLX 1000 enough, its a good solid unit, that looks great and sounds even better.

Solid build,and performance to match
I purchased this after retiring my 1970s technics sl2000.My system consists of musical fidelity m3si cd player, smsl m400 dac, arcam rphono, musical fidelity m3si amp, which I'm using as a preamp, roksan k3 power amp and kef q900 speakers.if you have a similar priced system, then this turntable sounds fantastic, don't be afraid to fit a decent cartridge,I have a goldring 2500 cartridge, and it sounds superb, the only drawback,is whilst my cd dac combo sounds great ,the turntable tops it.the soundstage of the deck ,is superior, and now I can't listen to my cd collection lol.go for it you won't be disappointed.

Really Good Quality Build and Performance.
So, I was in the market for a record player and wanted something which I might use for DJing at some time in the future. I did consider the Pioneer 500 (the one down from this) which was MUCH cheaper but having read a number of reviews and listened to some of my friends advice decided to go for the more expensive PLX 1000. The first thing I noticed when it was delivered was just how heavy it was! Upon unwrapping I could see why. The casing is thick (and I mean thick) metal construction. Assembly was simple and having purchased a cartridge (as it does not come with one) and relevant balancing adjustments (ESSENTIAL!) I listened to some music from my Vinyl collection. All I can say is wow the sound is amazing! far out saw my expectations. The only slight downsides are -No Cartridge Supplied -The Lid does not have a hinge (it lifts off) -The Price ( I know you get what you pay for but this was REALLY Pricey)

I've had many quality turntables, a mint condition Linn LP12 & a Kenwood 7010 to name a few. External build quality is not up to the standard of those decks with some plastic finishes, but it weighs a ton and the function of the unit itself is perfect, importantly the sound quality is superb. I would rate the audio quality at least on par with the other 2 tables previously listed so it is a heavy hitter. At the price, I think it's cost for the resulting audio reproduction is amazing and I would highly recommend to the fussy golden eared ones amongst us. Whether they could lower themselves to listen to a modern direct drive is another issue but the back ground is super quiet, sound staging amazing, clarity is stellar and the bass-taught, powerful & clean, definitely more bottom end bravado than what I'm accustomed too. The deck was a breeze to set up, I would highly recommend this great value turntable.

Received my Pioneer PLX-1000 month ago. The TT quality is good. But be prepared for some custom adjustment. There are some differences from "parent" Technics TT. The minimum cartridge height for this TT is 19mm, but lot of cartridges have the 18mm height. So, it was required to use 2mm shim with Ortofon cartridge to correctly set VTA. Also the overhang is 54mm instead of 52mm, so its not possible to use the Technics Needle Adjustment Gauge. Overal this TT is excelent.

I was looking at a Technics or this turntable. After a lot of reviews said this sounded as good and was cheaper, I went with the Pioneer. So far it sounds fantastic. It's a heavy unit, but takes up the same about of space as most Turntables. Setup isn't hard, fine tuning is a little more difficult, but not to hard. It does not come with a cartridge. I paired it with a Audio Technics AT-VM95ML. You just connect to the 4 poles and slide it on the arm. Even with buying the Cartridge it was cheaper than the Technics of the same capabilities. Assembly of the table is as simple as putting in the table. You get different tops if you want to listen or DJ And scratch. So, something for any use. The player is well laid out and has slot for the 45 adapter. As I don't need the DJ options I just reset everything to defaults and played records. The instructions included and online can walk you through a proper setup. The player does not come with an equalizer or amplifier. My receiver has a Phono input so it plugs right in. If you don't have a Phono input you'll need an external device to get the sound to line level. It comes with a RCA cable and ground wire. It does not have auto return at the end of the record. Once everything was set I tried rock, jazz, classical, and it all sounds great. The lights blue record and a white needle light at not a distraction and the needle light can be turned off. Overall, a nice turntable for home use. I'm getting back into records and this was a nice compromise between a beginner turntable and spending over a $1K for a decent turntable. All seems good to me.
