Sony AKA-HLP1 Hard Lens Protector for Action Camera

Item was Purchased by son and reviews by my son.I use this with the sony AS200V camera as my daily motorcycle helmet camera for safety reasons and insurance purposes.The item fits this model camera with no issues what so ever. Once clicked into place you just slide the slider to tighten the fit making it very secure. I have tried pulling it off by force with no effect as it felt the amount of force need to pull it off in locked mode would end up damaging the protector. So I feel 100% safe that it will stay attached to the device while riding.The downside is that Sony doesn't explain that this item is not compatible with the skeleton case they sell that also fits the camera. So you have to choose one or the other. Which to me makes no sense as the only reason you would want this item is with the use of a skeleton case as the case provided with the camera is waterproof and protects the lens.This can be rectified with a hand saw and some files cutting away the extra plastic on the lens cover and on the skeleton case. If I have done this mod and both items are still as secure as the unmodded versions if done correctly.So be aware of this when buying the item. If your happy to mod. Then I highly Recommend this Len Protector

Seems fine and does the job well on my Sony as100. Saves using full cover in summer.

I bought this for my Sony AS50 camera, which is being side mounted on a helmet. The lens protector is pretty much essential if you don't want to use the waterproof housing that the camera comes with (the camera itself is tiny without!).Locks securely into and remains unobtrusive - despite the note on the packaging, I didn't really notice any different in the FOV.Expensive, but not as expensive as replacing your camera!

If you have a Sony Action camera you need one of these.Took a while to find as the delivery driver had hidden it behind a plant pot.

When you have the fantastic Sony as100 camera you are going to want to protect the lense with one of these, these are the same usual sony quality of perfection. My only gripe is then you have the stability off so you can get the 170 degree view, in each corner you get this curved reflection of the lense, its hardly too noticeable, but its there and i notice it, so it looses a star

Purchased this to protect my action cam lens as I don't really like using waterproof housing that came with it bless absolutely necessary. The protector locks on the front of the lens which magnifies the fish eye effect a little but does do the job of protecting the lens which is what I wanted. It's difficult to see how the price can be justified for what at the end of the day is a bit of plastic and the lock does sometimes not hold it in place. I would rather have it than not but there are cons!

Okay, it's a bit pricey for a bit of plastic, but if you favour using your Sony action camera out of its waterproof housing (e.g. to avoid fogging issues), then it is worth getting to avoid things like a stone chipping your camera's glass lens (which will cost you a lot more to get fixed).Confirmed fit with Sony FDR-X1000V and Sony HDR-AZ1 cameras.
