It doesn't make sense.** A: Place the nail in the slot against the magnet. Tap the nail into the wood gently to just start the nail so it holds in the wood. A hammer you'll want to keep in your toolbox. *by E***O on 25 February 2021* What a great little tool this is! There are some things that are hard to describe. Other than being a hammer, what else do you really need to know? Well for a start, it's definitely a hammer. It's also very stubby. So there's that I guess. But beyond that it's actually really nice to use. The grip is comfy and it's really well balanced. I was a little bit concerned that there'd be no impetus due to its size, but in actual fact, I found using it to hammer felt tacks into solid wood no problem at all. I didn't need to use the magnetic head, but it seems strong, and the groove to guide a nail into place is a great addition. The claw is long and sturdy, definitely up to the task of pulling out all the old embedded tacks from my roof and I have no doubt it can handle harder jobs than that too.
