Q: can these be used to seperate burgers etc for freezing

Hi James, I have not tried to use the waxed discs for any other purpose than for topping home made jams, chutneys etc., so I can't say how these would work to separate burgers for freezing. I will say, the discs are not that large (1 lb. jam jar size), so unless the burgers are small, I doubt they would work too well, but being waxed, as they are, they might work. Basically, it's trial and error. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Joan.

Q: Will these fit a 500ml jar?

Yes, I find them just as good as the Lakeland ones, they're the same size and do the same job. There are 2 sizes - I bought both to be on the safe side(they're SO much cheaper than Lakeland's!) and they fit the smaller and larger jars of jam, though not Kilner jars - I have to cut waxproof paper for those. Hope this helps.

These are waxed/greaseproof paper discs, which you put on top of the jam or marmalade before putting the top on. They help exclude air and prevent risk of mould growing on top of the jam while in storage. They are not essential, but do help. Fill the jars to withtin 5mm of the top, place the disc on and seal the jars while still hot.

Perfect for jam or jelly making

Strong quality item. They apply to jellies if they have set a little first. Fit in a 190mls jar well as long as the jar is not filled too full.

Very different from what I have used in the past. Difficult to see which side is waxed and I agree with another reviewer who said that they don’t stick to the jam but curl up Having difficulty used them not good when I am so busy
