Investing in Consistency of Care
I’ve had high success with this product. Initially, I started using a standard moisture meter (intended to be used on multiple plants) but found it to be highly inaccurate; plus, I was concerned about the potential for root damage related to the continuous poking/stabbing motions into the soil. I prefer this one as it remains stationary so most of the risk is mitigated. (One stab versus 2-3 stabs per week.)I’ve been using the Sustee Aquameters for awhile now on some of my indoor plants but recently decided to invest in more. Buying in bulk was definitely the best value, so that’s why I purchased this pack of 12. As I travel for work, I wanted a more reliable method to fall back on when others must temporarily take over plant care duties. This eliminates the guess work and the variations between individuals’ perspectives on what’s “dry” and what’s “wet.” To me, a $5 investment per plant is worth the consistency of care. I don’t grow plants to have them die.I use the meters for my sensitive prayer plants, which currently include 12 Calatheas, Ctenanthe Setosa, Stromanthe Triostar, Maranta leuconeura Lemon Lime and Maranta Erythroneura, plus the more hard to replace plants such as my massive String of Hearts, variegated String of Hearts, Hoya Retusa and Pothos Cebu Blue.Another reason why I use Aquameters:Recently, I’ve had to combat an aggressive fungus gnat infestation. As the soil of prayer plants is often moist and are near a humidifier, these plants seemed to have the highest concentration of gnats. One of the solutions I implemented was using a 2-3” layer of pumice as top dressing to almost every indoor plant. This discourages the gnats from laying eggs in soil. Anyways, manually checking the soil became even more challenging. Since prayer plants are so sensitive, you really don’t want to wait until they show signs of dehydration to water. (This is like asking for brown crispy edges or even plant death.) This dynamic makes Aquameters more necessary to my plant care routine.I prime the meters before use. To do so, I soak them in R/O water until they turn blue. I coordinate the insertion immediately after watering the plant. So far, I’ve only had positive results with the Aquameters. I’m really not sure why some reviewers report such contrasting experiences... I would love to see how they use them and try to figure out why we’ve had such different results.

Six out of 12 don’t work
I opened and used each of the 12 sticks on the same day. Six did not work. I switched to watered and non watered plants. I put three sticks in one plant and only one is working. These would be great if all worked.

Okay product...Not worth $65
The sticks are okay. They don't work sometimes. They work best if they are in the soil already while you are watering the plant. Otherwise you can get a false read. I still use my soil check to ensure that the soil is actually dry before I water them. I would recommend getting the product elsewhere if you can find it for cheaper. For what it is, $65 seems a lot.
