can further amplication ie indoor boosters work with this as i have 1 installed all ready , as i have signal but it needs a little more boost.

i have installed a small powered additional booster purchased from BQ at furthest point from mast for a spare bedroom. signal now powers 4 tvs

can it be left switched on all the time

Most masthead amps are designed to work continuously as they're often mounted high up on a mast or in roof spaces. I've never known of one to go on fire or anything like that. They derive their 12V suply from a separate power unit which is nearly always 'fused'. i.e the 'mains' transformer inside the PSU is designed to go open circuit should excess current flow in the windings beyond a know safety limit.

How is the unit powered

It has a 3 pin plug so you need to find a power point, I cheated as I installed mine in the loft, the loft only had lighting circuits that are 5 amps, this needs less than 1 amp so I wired it into the lighting circuit, by putting a socket on the lighting circuit, illegal I know but I don't run anything else from this socket so it's ok
