Wild Animals: 1 (My First Search and Find, 1)

I've been meaning to review these books for a while as there's so much more to them than meets the eye! I initially purchased for my one year old and, even as a toddler then preschooler, my son still enjoys these. At first, my son would simply tell me the names of the animals as it was a bit tricky for him to find the matching one in the busy scene - it was great for his vocabulary. But as he grew, he was able to find animals that match (but weren't exactly the same) - if you look closely, you will see there might be several of the same animal on the page but only one is identical to the one you're looking for. As he got older, I'd challenge him to find the animal that was facing a certain way or in a certain pose and exactly matched the picture. A small point but an example of how the book can last longer than you think and grow with your child! As he got older, he was able to answer the questions that are printed at the top too that add another layer. And even just recently, after owning the books for a few years, I discovered that there's a hidden character on every page! This detail is printed on the back of the book and invites the child to find "Mr Risky" and identify what he's doing that could get you into trouble around the animals. It's truly the book that keeps on giving :-)

I bought this book for my granddaughter ~ she’s 3 & it keeps us both entertained. Good learning tool. Highly recommend!!

Bought for a 2 year old who was able to engage and loved it!

This is a gift and hasn't been given to a little one yet, but I am sure she will be delighted with it. The pages are sturdy board, there are handy tabs for little hands to locate favourite pages and the illustrations are lovely. I am certain that the recipient will thoroughly enjoy exploring the pictures to spot the given animals, and I myself was pleasantly surprised by the relatively large size of the book. Would recommend!

I hunted for a search-and-find book in the shops but couldn't find anything but sticker books. I took a punt on this book and was really pleased with illustrations are lovely and the tabs at the side make it really easy for my 16-month-old to flip around and see all the animals. At the moment he just enjoys looking at all the scenes, but he will soon get to enjoy hunting them on the page. My only issue is that the animals are very stylised so sometimes it's difficult to tell quite what they are, but maybe that says more about my identification skills that anything. Overall a really charming book and a real hit with my son.

All 4 books are so good for our toddler. Each page have several things for the kid to find on the page and then we also point out things for him to find. Perfect for our 2 year old. They’ve helped him learn a lot too.

It’s a large size book which we liked, and clearly shows which animals you are seeking so reading isn’t necessary, which is great for toddlers. Used for my two year old and 6 year old and good for both ages.

My daughters love this book. They can't read yet, but they love finding the items in the pictures.

Questo è il secondo libro che compro della stessa autrice, il mio bambino di 2 anni li ama (specialmente l'altro, Things that go, con tutti i mezzi di trasporto di cui lui va matto); sono libri estremamente resistenti, ne abbiamo altri di cartone che si sono sfasciati prima di questi... Forse l'unico appunto che posso fare riguardo Wild Animals è che le illustrazioni sono in alcuni casi molto molto piccole, alcuni animali si vedono appena... Per il resto, è proprio super carino.
