I'm so happy that I splurged and got a Theragun massager. The mini is perfect. It is light and easy to maneuver, but still powerful enough to do the job. It is very quiet, which means you can use it without alerting the neighborhood. There are three speeds, and I find myself using the middle one. The device comes with three heads: a standard ball, a thumb head for more concentrated massage, and a more diffuse dampener head for more bony bits. You also get a USB-A to USB-C. The soft case is wonderful and holds the device, plus the two extra heads, and the charging cable - plus the thin instruction pamphlet. Get the app! Wow! Very, very helpful and really helps you get the most out of your device. Not cheap, but if you can stretch your resources, this one will almost certainly do well for you. One extra note: the device and accessory packaging is brilliant! Kudos to the design team.

This is an amazing massaging tool. I often suffer from muscle soreness and tightness and this was recommended to me by my Physical Therapist to help with that. It is lightweight and can easily be taken with you if you’re traveling or need it on the go. It has several varying degrees of pressure/intensity, so depending on how much pressure you prefer, there is a setting for it. I have found it to be very helpful as a pain management tool and am so happy with this recommendation.

Ive been running for over a year now and have run 5ks, 8ks and even a 15k and absolutely love it but tbh I've been awful at recovery to the point my recent race gave me runners knee (hopefully not a tear) and have suppered from shin splints and ankle pain on and off. This? Oh my god so Ive seen these everywhere on the runners side of the internet but now that Ive gotten one its literally the best. The app has so many good tutorials and even put together a routine for me. It syncs with strava to see what I'm up to as well. You can save routines you like and customize everything from intensity to duration- you can even turn off sounds or turn on breaks. The "preasure" sensor is a little iffy but within 5 minutes of using this I found major muscle problem areas I wasn't previously aware of! My calves and left quad was in so much pain even with the damper I had to turn down the intensity. I tested this out on my back using the thumb attachment during the tutorial and it was SO relaxing I highly recommend it as less of recovery and more of a relaxing end to your workday or before bed. The bottom of my foot with the damper was also so nice.

This is one of the most impressive products I’ve purchased in a long time. Initial impression and wow factor may be best I’ve ever experienced. I’m not sure this is the same as a massage, but for getting blood flowing through muscles before/after workout it is TERRIFIC. I also use it throughout the day on my neck and shoulders to prevent headaches. In addition, I had some ankle swelling from driving long periods, and I have used it on my legs to increase circulation. I’m really amazed at how strong this thing is and how long the battery lasts. I also find the shape and weight just fine for holding and positioning on muscles. I actually bring it on the car (fits in glove box) for long trips. It includes three tips, but I might purchase other tips. I agree with people who say don’t push too hard, you might get sore muscles. Just go over surface of muscles with light pressure. That’s all you need. Fir anything else, get periodic real massage.

The TheraGun Mini is exactly what you would expect - compact, lightweight, and full of power. Although it is small in design, the TheraGun reputation stands taller than you and your aching back. ideal for travel as it is easily tossed into any bag without taking up too much space. It also fits neatly into drawers or shelves, making it less of an eyesore around the house. Battery life to date is efficient enough to get roughly 3-5 massage sessions before recharging (depending on length of use and intensity setting). The only downside is the case does not fit all of the attachments easily (slightly bulky) but perhaps they would fit better if all attachments were not connected to the apparatus when stowing away.

First, this is an obviously well-built and well-engineered piece of kit. The rubberized coating is high quality, the power/speed button has a nice tactile feel, and the connection point for the attachments is well designed, using ball bearings for the connection. Even the packaging was thoughtfully designed. Of course, this device isn't cheap, so I was happy to see that they didn't cut corners. One thing I will say, please download the Therabody app to use with this. You won't get the full experience without using the app. Now for the pros and cons. Pros: 1) It has an incredible amount of power for its size (this has a drawback which I will mention later). Even the lowest setting was sufficient to get a great massage on a lot of areas on my body. I can't imagine needing the full blown Theragun models. This has plenty of power. 2) The compact size makes it super easy to carry with you to work, on the go, or when traveling. 3) The app is really great. The device connects easily to the app, and the app provides you the remaining battery life and has a cornucopia of great exercises and routines, including ones for stress relief, relaxation, pre-workout and post-workout for upper and lower body, etc. You can also customize the break time between exercises and a few other things Cons: 1) Battery life. Unfortunately, given its high power and compact size, battery life isn't especially great. Not sure I can really fault the device too much given that it's hard to have both power and compact size without sacrifices, but it's important to note nonetheless and keeps this from being 5 stars. To provide a use case example, I did a 7 min pre-workout lower body routine before the gym, and then a 10 min post-workout routine when I got back. These 17 mins used about 50% of the battery (I had charged it fully in order to test this out). 2) This is minor, but I wish the soft carry case was just a little bit bigger to fit the two extra attachments. As it is, it only fits the device itself with just one attachment on it. 3) As this device sits right in your hand, sometimes at higher speed you can develop pins and needles and some mild discomfort in your hand from the vibration. 4) It only comes with a USB charging cable. Would have been nice to include a charging brick with it as well, especially at this price. Overall, a great device and highly effective, and in a compact size, with the main drawback being the somewhat mediocre battery life.

I bought a generic 'Aldom' unit for $40 and the Theragun for $170 off Amazon. I wanted to know whether it was worth spending more. The Aldom's head had a short amplitude, must've been under 10mm, it barely felt like a vibration, and would lose power pushing into the muscle. The motor was quiet because it barely did anything. I could feel my hand vibrating as it held the gun, but barely anything on the muscle. The build quality as trash as well, I suspect a lot of the reviews for the generics are fake. The Theragun had a real punch to it, and would keep a consistent pushing force and had a greater amplitude. The soft touch plastic, curves for handling, weight and strength of the material all felt nice. However, it'll be some time to figure out whether the Theragun Mini for warming up for a run is worth it.
