It says '4 piece' because you get 4 pieces: the board, a pen and 2 magnets = 4.

No, it is a magnetic board so magnets can be used on it. There are 2 provided with it. There is a piece of string on it that allows you to hang it.

Does it have a hard back?

The front is steel covered in white enamel to write on and the back is firm compressed cardboard with plastic trim right around the edge to hold them both together.

Does it leave marks when you rub the writing off

Hi, if you use a dry tissue yes. A wet cloth seems to do the job though.
