Beautifully put together in every way
Such a fantastic book, visually stunning with a plethora of really well curated illustrations. I was expecting the text to be illegible based on other reviews here, but to my pleasant surprise it’s fine. I’ve only read the first few sections but they’re extremely well written, informative and very much in context with the images in the section. It’s a seriously well put together and beautiful book. Mine did arrive in a box that had obviously been dropped, and the was some crumpling of the base of the spine, but Amazon were brilliant in making it right. Very happy to own this.

Beautiful tombstone of a book
A gorgeous book. Its massive and heavy and filled with high quality prints in black and white and colour. Not something you can read in bed cos it's so heavy but it's a quality book and covers everything you need to know about death and attitudes towards it throughout history.

Fabulous!
I have really only dipped in and out of this so far but it is such a wonderful book to simply hold. I'm rationing my indulgence in it and am aware just how magnificently illustrated and generally put together it is.
