Dark, Captivating, and Unforgettable
Satan's Affair by H.D. Carlton is a dark, thrilling, and intense read that grips you from start to finish. The story is not for the faint of heart, with its complex characters and twisted plotlines, but it is incredibly well-written and keeps you hooked the entire time. The main characters are multi-dimensional, and their complicated relationship is both gripping and unsettling. Carlton does an excellent job of delving into the darker aspects of human nature while still maintaining a deep emotional connection with the reader. The tension between the characters is palpable, and I couldn’t put the book down. The pacing of the story is spot on, and the twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. There are moments of heartbreak, shock, and suspense that make this book stand out in the dark romance and psychological thriller genres. While it might not be for everyone due to its mature and intense themes, if you’re a fan of dark, gritty, and thought-provoking stories, Satan’s Affair is a must-read. H.D. Carlton’s writing is masterful, and I can’t wait to read more from her!

Dark and twisty
"Don't enter the den of wolves and ask not to be bitten."We travel the country, offering terrifying haunted houses, thrilling rides and the tastiest food. And with every passing town, I cleanse the world, one execution at a time. I hide within the walls, casting my judgment for those that reek of evil, singing lullabies to their rotting souls. Once you've been chosen, there's no escaping my henchmen-they cater to my every desire. You can run and you can hide, but it only excites me. Come. Take a walk through my dollhouse, where your screams will blend and your cute little pleas will go unanswered. So I have heard amazing things about H.D. Carlton and I have been wanting to really delve into the dark romance genre. Well I would say this book was a good way to start that. I mean it pretty much commits to be dark, dirty, and nasty from the start. Yet, I enjoyed it. I loved that the main character doing the killing was a female. I loved the brief backstory we got for her in a short novella. I felt like this book gave me just enough information to understand the characters while also leaving me wanting more. I will say this book is incredibly graphic and lucky for me I love horror movies and psychological thrillers because this sort of reads like one.Sibby is a little bit childlike but also a stone cold killer so it was an interesting dynamic. I will say that trigger warnings should be read for this novella. I had a few times I was icked out but my god Carlton is a beautiful writer. I was so engrossed in the story and want to know more about Zade. So why four stars? I was going to give it five for the shocking reveal at the end alone... until it left me hanging with the final paragraph and now I don't know the final outcome. But seriously I look forward to reading more books by H.D. Carlton!

Need to read prequels first
Did this book technically have a plot? Yes. Was this book from the point of someone massively schizophrenic? Also yes. As far as books go, it’s not the best ever, but it does capture the schizophrenic first person perspective really well and ties back to haunting Adeline which is interesting to see for sure. I wouldn’t reread it but it was a good break from my usual

Duet style
This series is amazing! I loved all the books and the audiobook are that much better! This audible is done in Duet narrative! It makes the story so much more enjoyable when each is voicing their lead character!

Shocking
I purchased this book because I kept seeing Haunting Adeline on TikTok and I was curious about that book. After some research I learned that Satan’s Affair was a sequel to the Cat and Mouse Duet. So after receiving it I immediately started reading it and had a hard time putting it down.Needless to say I finished the 144 page book within 24 hours of it coming into my possession.I have never read anything like this book before. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. It is full of violence, gore, torture, sexually explicit situations, and it touches on rape, child abuse, and sex trafficking. One of the more brutal scenes in the book almost made me stop reading it but I am glad that that the scene wasn’t drawn out and ended quickly. After that the rest of the book seemed tame in comparison.I absolutely loved the twist ending, and I am curious and eager to read the rest of the books set in this universe.I gave the book 4 stars due to a couple of typos and the one scene I could have done without. However I found it very intriguing and entertaining.

Dark and intriguing
It was a fun ride and an interesting story, even with the spoilers I had I wasn't expecting the ending

A little rough on the eyes, but good price
Has some typos and some of the sentence spacing is so close together that I have a harder time reading quickly. Has some shiny stuff on the cover that doesn’t come off, but I’m halfway through the book and it’s not falling apart like some reviews have mentioned.About the story, I wasn’t reviewing it because I haven’t finished. Sibby seems to have a very young-minded mentality, which is a bit odd to me. Crying over cotton candy and then becoming smut is… odd to say the least.Oh. The sentences also repeat words a lot instead of being more creative. It could be something like, “he sat on the chair. The chair was tall.” My brain wants to rewrite sentences like that.
