I had looked at cheaper ones but wanted a decent one that I could rely on without spending too much.For starters you will need a screwdriver for the battery compartment, fortunately a noticed this before we travelled. On our first day and in 30 degree heat I got out my trusty screwdriver only to find the screw wouldn't come out, it must have gone in on the wrong thread. My only option was to break into it then hold it closed with a little bit of tape.This fan goes through 2 batteries in about 4 hours continuous use, that was with Duracell too so not sure how it would have fared with cheap batteries.After 3 days I noticed that it wasn't working after about 30 minutes of use (daughter was getting cranky because of the heat and no fan). Opened the battery cover to find one of the batteries had burst and the other was extremely hot! The fan was not in direct sunlight at any time. Luckily I had been using tape to keep it closed because this is what stopped the battery acid leaking out and possible onto my daughter (we had the fan positioned above her head because as a typical baby she doesn't like a draught on her face).I ended up buying a cheap water/fan combo which made do for the rest of the holiday (11 days).I have only just returned home and took this useless and dangerous fan home with me only to find that I can no longer return it.Do yourself a favour and buy 3 cheap ones, at least then you'll have a back up.
