good book
sneaky young pretty woman and naive loving man, there is just one end to it.I really liked it, especially as it was written in 1921 as I remember correctly and it was still very easy to read

One of the best
Tanizaki has to be one of the more underrated Japanese writers. If Kawabata is a bit tame for you, Mishima OTT, Tanizaki is spot on. Very modern for his time - deals with all the taboos without flinching. If you haven't time for Makioka Sisters read Naomi - she's a lot wilder than the Makioka youngest.
