The fatter bit immediately failed and did not work at all. Not sure they will last long but for $11 it seemed worth the price for my one time use purposes. If drilling into steel I recommend using a punch to dimple it to hold the bit in place. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Does not drill stainless steel *by V***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 17, 2023* Compared to other M35 cobalt drill bits that I have, this one is a very poor performer. It will drill through regular steel, and as can be seen in comparison photos, it will drill through structural steel at a snail's pace.When I tried to drill a 1" hole through an 8-gallon stainless steel can with it, it went nowhere. After several minutes, it managed to drill only a small dimple, and would not go any further. I ended up using my other M35 drill bits to drill pilot holes in the stainless steel can. Tried to expand the pilot hole with this Yougfin step bit, and it would not cut the stainless steel. Strangely, its cousin (Yougfin individual M35 drill bits) worked fine. Once I maxed the hole size with the individual bits I had (1/2"), I still needed to go larger to 1", so once again, I tried the Yougfin step bit, but it would only push on the stainless steel. It would not cut. I used a Heaven brand step bit to expand the hole to 1" size. The Heaven step bit easily cut into the stainless steel and expanded the hole in increments until my desired size was reached (slightly larger than 1"), but it left some burrs and deformities (warped edges). Since the Yougfin step bit would not bite into the stainless steel, I finally found a use for it in finishing the surface of the 1" hole---by smoothing out the edges as I could push down and press out the existing hole.The step bit set has a nice case, but the step bits themselves will have limited use; good for drilling wood, plastics, and soft materials.
