Review: Great case for SATA/SAS to USBC with caveats - Have the SAS version and it has lit up every SAS or SATA drive I have thrown at it so far. It worked with a 22TB drive which my other case failed to do. Zorin OS saw it and allowed me to format and use it very fast. Pushed 150GB of data to it out of the chute from my NAS out of the chute with no issues and a sustained transfer rate of ~100MB/sec (GigE network limited.) The SMART function on the drive I installed worked just fine. Now the shell is aluminum but the sled/board carrier is simple plastic. So heat with a drive like the Western Digital Ultrastar DC 570 22TB WUH722222ALE6L4 (admittedly an enterprise NAS drive expecting of active cooling) will not result in a happy drive by any means. IE: the drive will for sure cook. Mine, without the shell in my open room at 74F, was idling at 117F. This means that though it will in fact present most any drive to your USB port. But just because one can do a thing doesn't necessarily mean one should. For the IT types, likely the target of this unit since it is a SATA/SAS device, you will wanna leave the shell off at the least. With those limits in mind I highly recommend the case just based on the function. with

**Q: Why the light is on, but the hard drive does not appear in "my computer"?**
A: If the light is on or the hard drive gets warm, it means the enclosure is fine, check the "disk-management", if your hard drive can't be found, it is possible one of your hard drive,cable or interface is detective,replace them can solve problem

**Q: Why the transfer speed is smaller than the description?**
A: That depends on the interface and the operation syatem, please comfirm that your interface is USB3.0, if you are sure the interface is USB3.0 but the speed is 30-40MB, please down the corresponding USB3.0 driver of your system from Internet.

**Q: Why sometimes the enclosure would disconnecting automatically?**
A: If there is no data visiting longer than 10 minutes, the enclosure would enter sleep mode automatically, reboot it to awake it.

**Q: If make sure that your hard drive is fine but the drive enclosure is not working or something wrong, what can you do?**

Have the SAS version and it has lit up every SAS or SATA drive I have thrown at it so far. It worked with a 22TB drive which my other case failed to do. Zorin OS saw it and allowed me to format and use it very fast. ### ⭐⭐ Works, performance is abysmal.

Works and was the only game in town when I bought it, but it's very, very slow unfortunately. The issue is that the initio controller they used is limited to 80MB/s (yes, you read that correctly). The board miscommunicates the actual data transfer rate to the operating system; benchmarking under linux disks application reveals that the write speed is limited to roughly 80MB/s. It was the only option for a external SAS/USB enclosure when I bought it back in 2025 but it looks like there's different options available now. "The Initio INIC-1611 provides an advanced solution to connect SATA devices to USB or SATA Host with integrated CPU and embedded SRAM/ROM. To provide high performance and cost effective solution, the INIC-1611 integrates USB-PHY Mass Storage Class Bulk-Only USB function, SATA link/PHY core and microprocessor into a single ASIC. The INIC-1611 provides the data transfer rate of up to 60 MB/sec connecting to a 1.5G SATA interface. " It's not a huge deal for my use case because I'm using rsync and most of my data doesn't change between backups, but if you're moving tons of data around look elsewhere.
