As a coin collector the protection of my coins is paramount. I know there are many different plastic coin capsules available covering a range of prices.For most purposes these capsules which come in an extensive range of sizes meet my needs perfectly. Also, because of their design I am able to protect coins with the capsule and also display the coins in albums something not always possible with some capsule designs.There was also a very quick turn round from order to delivery despite ordering over Christmas and New Year period.

The coin capsules were excellent! They were a good buy! They are ideal if you have some Crown coins in your collection.

I bought these to display some £5 coins. They seem well made and although they are not a screw fit , the two halves of the capsule seem to fit together nice and tight.

The capsules are a gift for an avid coin collector in the family. The where very pleased with the gift as its hard to find in local shops.

Just right.The 1oz silver Britannia coin sits snugly in the compartment.Good secure closing, unlike one that came with the coin, which fell open on handling.

I don't like to write a negative review but I feel compelled to do so for these. They came in a nice professional looking retail cardboard box which is just about all that I can say that's positive about these. The first bad thing is that they feel truly horrible to hold in your hand! I want a capsule that feels smooth and nice and these really don't. That is because of the two slightly sharpish easy open ridges on the edge of the capsule which also make them look rather ugly in my opinion. They look a little bit like a supermarket trolley wheel (the type designed to sink into travelators). They also open far too easily for me. This makes me nervous of an accidental opening damaging the very round I bought this capsule to protect. I can actually open them one handed on my knee and in my view that defeats their primary purpose which is protection.They are also too big for a standard 39mm silver round which unpleasantly rattles about inside and they somehow seem to be simultaneously too small for a 39mm copper round which was a major struggle to squeeze into them flat. Now I do know that these rounds are ever so slightly different in diameter but these capsules appear to have little or no flexibility to accommodate. In the end I gave up after reading some positive reviews on the net of genuine Air Tite capsules and ordered the very same size (39mm) direct from the USA. By comparison, they are a total delight to hold in ones hand, they look and feel gorgeous and they are smooth and quite difficult to open which makes them very secure. They also managed to fit BOTH rounds beautifully without being too much of a squeeze on the copper and no rattle on the silver. They must just have a little bit more flexibility in them or something which these Lighthouse holders seem not to have. For some reason amazon seem to currently only supply this brand of capsule which is a shame as I've had to pay a whole load more with the postage to get the others from the states that actually only cost a fraction more to begin with.In summary, I can imagine that these are designed for people that like to open a capsule regularly and enjoy the tactile experience of handling their coins and rounds. I do fully understand the enjoyment in that and also enjoy the experience myself on occasion. Its a rare occasion though and I don't mind it taking a little longer to open a superior capsule.
