Used this item and it worked very well. It automatically converted from one current 220 down to 110. As for the complaints of the heat output. I did not need the straightener part but needed the curling iron part. My hair is straight but not that thick. It would not curl my hair. I even tried using a smaller amount of my hair to no avail. The other thing that I had a problem with is that the cord kept winding around the handle with each curl. I had to stop and keep unwinding it. It definitely was not for me. I honestly can't say how the hair straightener works because I did not use it. It may work well for that ?? I do like the size for travel and that you can immediately put the cover on it even when it is hot.
