Semi-Pro sees Will Ferrell starring as Jackie Moon who owns, coaches and plays for the Flint Michigan Tropics in a lower level basketball league but when the league decides to join forces with the NBA and take 4 of its teams being able to make the step up whilst the others will be dropped from the league. Can Jackie bring in the fans and rally his team to jump from the bottom of their league to the heights of the NBA?The film is OK and has a few laughs but it is not one of the best offerings from Ferrell so don't go in expecting an amazing comedy as this will disappoint if you go in with high expectations. The film is watchable and will deliver a little bit of laughter but it is not a laugh out loud type of movie.

LIKES:1) Will Ferrell, he looks like my Norwegian Brother-in-Law who is ultra-placid and an ex-top commander in the Air Force.2) Will Ferrell, always makes me laugh with the same look and delivery he has in all his films.3) The girls in the bikinis!4) The '70s soundtrack is brilliant.DISLIKES:1) It's not rip-roaring, gut wrenchingly funny....watch Zoolander (first one) for Ferrell at his best.2) The language is unnecessarily awful in places.3) The horrendous 1970s American clothing, nothing has changed much though in 2018.I enjoyed this film, but my wife wasn't so keen. We normally love Will Ferrell because he reminds us of our brother-in-law, who's really straight and upstanding. Ferrell is the complete opposite of our brother-in-law and that's what makes it funny for us. However, this classic under-dog movie has it's funny moments, but they're not frequent enough. It's the sort of film you watch because you want to see the ending. You know what the end will be, but you've invested time in it so you need to see the end.A great point is the 70s soundtrack which is really great. "Love me sexy" the spoof song by Jackie Moon is really funny but the lyrics are a little questionable, but still funny. Jackie's weirder and weirder and progressively more dangerous promotions are a high point too. Overall, you're not going to fall about laughing, but you will laugh. It's worth a watch if nothing else is on.

I think they threw the budget into hair and costume. It's a VERY cliched storyline and makes no attempt at originality whatsoever, and doesn't manage to be a spoof of that cliched storyline, somehow. There is the odd joke squeezed out of this by Ferrel but in general it makes little sense and lacks any kind of excitement. Pretty bad.

Didn't know that this film existed. Laughed all the way though. Saw loads of actors now famous in their own roles.. Give it a watch, you won't regret it.

Some people just don't like Will Ferrell so they won't like this film, i do and thought this film was good. Its not quite as funny as Anchorman or Blades of glory but its actually a good film on its own. Set in the 70,s and about a small basketball team heading for the NBA it does have some very funny moments and is a good way to waste an hour and a half on a rainy night. The bluray picture is very nice and crisp with excellent colours. The 2 disc edition is full of the usual stuff and makes it good value. Good film especially at a cheap price point on bluray.

What better than a night in with a nice film to sit back and relax too. Quality is superb as I would expect from Blu-Ray. Another great addition to the collection. If your a fan of the actors its a must watch! Ordered and turned up very quickly! Great packaging as always from Amazon.

Didn't even know this movie exists, but it's definitely worth a watch. Yes, it's not Anchorman funny, but it's a close second if you're into these sorta over the top comedies.
