Frustrating political slant.

Thos book series focuses too much on race. I dont much care for anecdotes about how other women suppsedly have it harder than me. Failing at BF broke me into a million little pieces. It still hurts a year later.

Vital reading for any breastfeeding supporter - and healing reading for mothers

This is a powerful book - the grief and trauma around breastfeeding is so often swept aside with a 'you did well, don't give yourself a hard time' or 'move on, it's not that important', when for mothers who struggled with breastfeeding, the emotional impact and implications can be huge. The innate drive to breastfeed our babies is so powerful and yet so hard to articulate and easily dismissed both individually and as a society. The core of this book is that what women feel matters - and that listening to what they are saying is vital. It's a must-read for any breastfeeding supporter, anyone working with breastfeeding mothers in an health professional role and for any breastfeeding mother. There will be many 'penny-drop' moments as you read it whatever perspective you come from. And as ever with Amy Brown, it's written in accessible, clear way. I love this book.

Helped me to know I was not alone in my feelings regarding breast feeding

This book was really helpful to me after breast feeding didn't work out as I expected. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is unable to breast feed as long as they would like to but I agree with previous reviews that the political slant is unhelpful and now quite outdated (I was never told "just give a bottle" by health professionals).

Insightful and compassionate book

This is such an important and hidden piece of work. In my work as an IBCLC I see the emotional fallout and sadness of unmet breastfeeding goals every week. This book is like a warm hug for parents whose journey has not been easy. It is unjudgmental and thoughtful, acknowledging the feelings that parents have. Thanks again Amy for a much needed and supportive book.
