All that's holding me back from this product is the range of 'clear' night vision? Also, are the cameras motorised for slight adjustment via the DVR?

Not sure of the range of night vision, but they cover my front garden (which is approx 25ft long by 40ft wide, & beyond) with no problem.No, the cameras are not motorised,where you set them is where they stay.

Is there a way to copy all video recordings on the nvr hard drive to a usb? can the videos be downloaded via wifi to a mobile?

you can go to the main menu>record>backup, and copy the records to a USB stick, then play the records on a computer. Or you can install the xmeye app, or xmeye pro app, add the DVR to the app device list, go to the menu>video download and download the video.

do the cameras provide sound, or video only?

Yes, The cameras provide sound. You can hear what's going on but you can't talk back like the doorbell ones. The sound can be turned off if you want
