"..FANTASTIC 80'S CLASSIC.."
This is a classic 80's monster movie with a great story and a good cast, the monster in the movie is awesome and looks very cool for oldskool retro creature effects! Worth a low price any day, this movie was directed by Sean Cunningham who did the original Friday the 13th in around 1980.

B movie hokum
If you're considering watching this because of the horror pedigree of its director Sean S Cunningham then don't, this is not a horror movie, it's much more of an action adventure. In view of all that I can say that this busy bit of hokum provides decent, mindless entertainment. I saw it on release and enjoyed it and as its nearly thirty years old I still view it favourably against the CGI laden offerings we get from the likes of the syfi channel. This lives in b-movie heaven but the set dressing is rather good and although the monster isn't particularly well presented it does a good job of picking off the loosely drawn crew of the stricken station. Speaking of crew, the script telegraphs as to who will survive as well as a handful of character traits that tell you who people are; you recognise the love interest, the snivelling cheat, the hero etc. The pacing is spot on and there's plenty of action on offer. It's at the lower end of Deep Rising and Deep Blue Sea but it covers similar ground. Greg Evigan has plenty of appeal as the square jawed hero and although the rest of the cast are cardboard cutouts of every other gang in these types of movies, at least they give it their all before getting killed! Relax, grab a beer and enjoy!
