Gives better control of where the paint goes and how much you're using. The small needle let's you get into small areas.The only flaw I've found is getting them filled. Although it comes with a funnel, it's useless. I'm not the only one that's had this problem. I've talked to several other women that have the same problem. Using a syringe doesn't work. Slowly trying to pour doesn't work. The only way I've found to get them filled (this was shared with other women) is squeeze the sides while pouring the paint in. If it stops up let the sides loose and the suction will draw the paint down. Just make sure you squeeze the sides again before pouring more paint. Anything thicker than watered down paint, unicorn spit, watercolors, etc, will likely clog. You can easily remove the metal piece to use the slightly larger hole in the top. However, this will render the topper useless, and you'll have to use plastic wrap, etc. These are NOT at all hard to squeeze. It's easily done with thumb and 1 finger. There are the correct number of pieces. The little funnel that is included is a great help.
