Hard for this to hold up in this trade but nice shoe
Being a flooring installed I beat up shoes pretty bad. I immediately needed insoles for these shoes in the first couple hours breaking these in my feet were hurting. This shoe looks good but I wore to work and it looks like I wore it for more than a month already. I know this is because of my trade, the trade is hard on shoes and it is very difficult to find shoes that hold up more than a week or so.

Nice shoes but order half a size down.
These are nice looking shoes and appear very will made. I normally take a 8.5, but 8 would have been better. My heel moves around in this shoe as I walk.

Very comfortable!
Very comfortable! Great for walking. Nice cushion inside. Good strong sole for good support. Highly recommend. Rare to find this older design low cut work shoe rather than the higher boot which can get too warm for your feet.

No Consumer's Remorse!
For the past several years, I've worn moc-toe Irish Setters and Timberlands. I've put thousands of miles on my pair of Setters and have essentially worn out the sole (it's definitely been a quality boot). Plus, I've given up on purchasing Timberlands because each pair fits a bit wonky, I'm never sure what type of fit or foot support to expect (possibly because they've outsourced their products to China), and the last pair I had came unstitched after just one year of use.I'd never heard of Golden Fox before until I began searching Amazon, and I wanted to give these a try, primarily because of its reasonable prices (as compared to Red Wing and Timberland), they're made in the USA, and other users have given their Golden Foxes good reviews.I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day long, so I've also chosen these shoes since they seem tough and look good with dress pants. Although these shoes were initially stiff and tough to break in, they're starting to soften up and feel more comfortable each time I wear them. I always wear a size 8 in boots, so I ordered these in a size 8 as well. To start, I was wearing these with thin Swiftwick running socks, but after a couple of weeks they've begun to loosen up, and I'm now using medium-thickness Balega socks with them, and now they seem to fit just right.I like these shoes so much that I was about to order another pair in the other color, but I'm going to give these a few more weeks of wear to see if they stretch any more and if I need to size down to a 7 1/2; however, I'm pretty confident now that the 8 is going to work just fine. I reached out to customer service about whether I should size down on the next pair, and I was impressed with how quickly they responded; not to mention, they didn't just try to sell me on another pair - they recommended that I put my current pair through another month of wear before deciding. The only unusual aspect about these shoes is that, although they're constructed of leather, it seems that they've been coated with some type of synthetic finish. Even so, these are proving to be tough, comfortable shoes that I can stand and walk all day within - I have no consumer's remorse about this purchase! And, as I've previously mentioned, I'm definitely going to invest in another pair, especially because great customer service goes a long way with me.

Comfortable Good Looking Boot
I love these boots! I've worn them most of the week running an event over the weekend and delivering for an organization each day. The boots did not need to be broken in. They were comfortable the moment I put them on and they still look fantastic.

Promptly returned these due to very poor fit and other issues...
I ordered these shoes over 10 days ago and they were finally delivered yesterday. Shipped from CA to the southeastern US, this seemed unusually slow in this day and age via FedEx. Anyway, on to the shoe.First impressions? A very nice looking work shoe with nice exterior quality. Appeared to be exactly what I've been looking for for a long time...at a somewhat reasonable price. That said, there was one "missed" stitch showing on the welt attachment near the outside of the left shoe's toe that would have presented a visual or structural defect somewhere down the line though. I'd have expected the shoe to have better quality control, especially at such an important place. I didn't like it, but I would have lived with it.Now, on to the fit of these shoes and the various reasons I was forced to promptly return them. I measure a size 9.5 D and, nowadays, usually wear shoes anywhere from 9.5 to 10.5 (i.e. Asics running shoes, almost always a perfect fit at 10.5 D). I thought I'd followed the general instructions and ordered my size, 9.5 D, assuming the shoes ran a little large and that should put me right in the middle of the range I wanted to be in to accommodate the low-cut, medium weight socks I typically wear. I figured I'd even be willing to deal with them a being a little snug to "break in" with the roomier moc-toe. No such luck with these. Both shoes were short on both feet causing my toes to press into the narrower rounded part of the toes. That said, not intolerably so and this is not the primary reason I returned them. The left shoe was roomier in the toe than the right shoe and wasn't all that bad, despite the snugness. However, the perimeter stitching on the insole of the right shoe was rubbing all around the outside of my right foot and made that shoe noticeably less comfortable and tighter feeling, to the point it was a big factor in sending them back. But, and this is the big one. I was forced to lace these shoes down as tightly as I could possibly get them to prevent my heels lifting as I walked...but they still slipped. The heel stays or cups were so loose, especially in the left shoe, that my feet slid up and down as I walked around the house. This was highly annoying and, eventually, would lead to chafing. So, shoes that were already snug had to be laced down to the point of being too tight in front which STILL DID NOT PREVENT the heels lifting with left being worse than right. Whew! All the while, I was being irritated by the insole stitching in the right shoe. Result? Sadly, a totally disappointing deal-breaker for these otherwise nice-looking shoes. One final comment about the shoe design I really hope the designer/manufacturer sees. These interior of these shoes is made of a fabric material that I know will provide a perfect breeding ground for all manner of bacteria and will soon stink so badly (probably well before they're worn out) that you'll want to toss them PLUS the insoles are sewn in so there are no options, ever, in dealing with them or cleaning them. I'm sure this is by design since fabric liners and spongy insoles (as opposed to leather) wear much faster than the outside or sole of this shoe ever will and will make the shoe totally unusable much sooner than if it were made with more durable materials. If I were to estimate based on my experience, I'd say they'll last a year or two of daily wear, tops. Personally, I hate this kind of planned obsolescence and try to avoid buying products like this for that reason alone. We don't need more $%it racing into the landfills, do we? Shameful.Lastly, I very reluctantly and cautiously ordered these shoes with the distinct impression that I'd be eligible to return them "FREE OF CHARGE". I even searched the Amazon pages carefully, trying to verify this before ordering and really thought I had. Don't be mislead. I am paying $5 and change to drop them off at UPS to send them back. I won't order shoes online ever again unless shipping is expressly and clearly stated as FREE BOTH WAYS and don't think anyone else should either. Their design, manufacturing, fit, and quality control issues are forcing a return at my expense.Potential buyers, take careful note of all the above before ordering.
