Marshall Uncle Jim’s Duk Soup Mix for Ferrets – 4.5 oz – Digestive Support, Recovery & Vitality Aid – Easy-to-Prepare Nutritional Supplement

I have a ferret who was diagnosed with insulinoma over a year ago. Every day I give him 1/4 of a 1 milligram Prednisolone pill 2 times per day. On top of his medicine, I crush up his regular food and mix it 50/50 with the duk soup and a little bit of water and store it in the fridge. I then take the mix out of the fridge, microwave about a tablespoon and add a little bit more water to feed to him at least 2 times per day before feeding him his med. This has been a life saver! He is still doing extremely well and by feeding him soft food before the pill, I have prevented him from getting stomach upsets like ulcers. Also, the food breaks down faster so if he hits an episode, he comes out of it within seconds of feeding him this mix. He would not be alive today without the food mix and pred medicine regimen, but I expect he will continue to do well for some time as he is still pretty spry and happy. He is now a little over 8 years old!

Will add this with egg and fish Oil to make a perfect cleanse cocktail whenever needed

This is a very high protein good treat for my babies! It's simple and easy to prepare, just water, a couple spoonfuls, and mix. They gobble it up. If they don't eat it all at once, I have to add some more water and mix it up because the mixture soaks up all the water. My ferrets are definitely much happier when they eat this!

Fortunately, throughout my years of being a ferret mother, my ferrets have always been healthy, until my first and oldest became sick last month. After taking him to our vet for displaying odd behavior we discovered he had a tumor and despite our best efforts, we were unable to save him. During this time, while he was hospitalized and eventually passed, my other male ferret who was his closest friend became very depressed and quit eating, dropping a significant amount of weight. So, I had to take fairly drastic measures in order to get him to gain weight and begin eating again. Therefore, after substantial research, I decided to add this to our routine to get him to feeling better. I had read a lot of wonderful things about duk soup and the benefits it provides when you have an ill ferret or ferret that won't eat, so I decided to give this prepackaged form a try in order to start "treatment" as quickly as possible. I know ferrets need to eat quite a bit throughout the day, however, with my work schedule that was difficult so I scheduled three hand feedings a day (morning, afternoon, and night | not force feeding | also a very small supplement of Nutri-cal with afternoon feedings). My little man preferred his duk soup be a fairly liquid consistency, so that how I made it. When I first tried to get him to eat it he was a bit weary, but I placed a small amount on his nose and he began to really love it. I would make up a small batch and allow him to eat however much he wanted, if he wanted more I would simply make more. Over the course of two weeks, I followed this feeding routine and he showed significant improvement in weight and energy after just one week. After two weeks he had put on almost all of the weight he had lost. Shortly afterward he began eating his kibble on his own, with no coaxing, and stopped wanting the duk soup all together. This has definitely been a miracle product for my little fuzz butt, I was very concerned I was not going to be able to get him to eat but he took straight to this. I'm glad I purchased several bags because now I have some extras on hand in case I every have trouble with any of my ferrets in the future.

My ferrets go crazy for this, and for some reason my cats do too. It has an insanely strong smell to it, so im not a fan of it. I also heard that this is bad for your ferrets, giving them digestive issues instead, however im no expert and my ferrets seem to be doing fine. easy to prepare.

No words can clearly describe how much this Duck Soup has done for my baby! I want to thank the company for making this item and Amazon for carrying it-thank you! This year my family made a big change in our living environment by moving into a new home along with other life changes. Along with these changes the food she used to eat and only wanted to eat became discontinued and that is what really made her go down hill. She had a hard time adjusting to the new home but worse refused to eat anything we bought her. She only ate her treats and that was not enough nutrition. She lost so much weight to the point where she started to become very frail and her fur was falling out. We had to take her to the vet a few times to get her hydrated. I started to do research and found out about Duck Soup and decided to order it. When I tried to give it to her she refused it as well. I tried to be creative and add some ingredients into the duck soup. One of her favorites is a vitamin supplement and ferrettone. I mixed both supplements in the duck soup and made it watery and that did the trick! Since then, she has been on Duck Soup and has bounced back to life! Within a matter of weeks she regained her strength, she gained her weight back and all of her fur has fully grown back in. She is her happy self again, running around and squeaking. Duck soup is what she eats now and I will keep her on it always. I did buy some new brands of solid food but she still will not eat it so, what I do is grind up the pellets and add that into the duck soup along with her supplements. She loves it! Just loves it! Many reviews suggest to start off your ferret on Duck Soup when they are young so they get used to the taste and I would recommend the same. Or, start them off on it at any age to keep them healthy. i use to buy this A LOT but it seems like the batches are made different each time so getting my ferret to enjoy it was a little of a hassle when i would go bag to bag. Then after looking into the ingredients they are not the best for your ferret(s) so we did opt for something else.

This powdered food mix is the best way to build up your ferret after surgery, illness or just not eating. I mix with warm water to a paste as thick or thin as needed and every ferret I have had simply loves this. It's a perfect way to conceal medication as ferrets are usually very difficult to administer meds to, and this keeps for ages too in its dry state. Every ferret owner should have this on standby, it's just a pity that mainstream pet supply stores don't usually stock this mix. Don't bother with other supplementary foods, this is the only one you'll ever need.

One of my ferrets thought this was delicious. Only downside is that I ordered this to Sweden and I had to pay custom fees: 75 kr. Not really fun to pay and not informed on the site.

Amazing for sick ferrets, never had a problem with feeding them this
