Planes 2: Fire & Rescue is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave allterrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

I have a 4 year old who loved the first movie
I have a 4 year old who loved the first movie, and I can understand why a few reviewers disliked it. personally I quite enjoyed the jokes though the movie as a whole was fairly slow and completely predictable for an adult to watch. But as I said my 4 year old loved it and now my 2 year old really likes it too.So when Planes II came out at the cinema I took the oldest and 3 of his friends along to watch it.***Spolier***The movie starts of pretty slow, Dusty is now an established racer and has (predictably) put Crop wash junction on the map, all is fine until he develops an engine problem that basically cancels his racing career. In a feat of deniability he goes out flying, panics when his engine warning lights come on and mucks up his landing. Its at this point that the movie really starts to get interesting for the adults. The resulting fire then causes the airfield to be closed until the old fire engine "Mayday" can be upgraded and a second fire fighter employed.A rather guilty Dusty volunteers and heads off to Piston Peak National park to get qualified. Queue some fantastic AC/DC music and drama!dusty begins his training but hides his faulty engine from everyone, until right near the end when we see a much more mature dusty sacrificing himself to save a couple of old timers. (Dont worry though in true disney style its all ok in the end)Overall the movie is much more balanced, though a few of the jokes from the first movie make a re-appearance, the characters have a much deeper quality, with plenty of laughs for adults as well as the kids. its also much faster paced as the movie develops so you'll feel like the last few scenes really are a do or die scenario. There is a point where most younger kids will get a little frightened but its short and a great excuse to cuddle up with mummy or daddy. If you do buy th DVD then wait till right at the end for a little sneak peak, it was not shown at the cinema.I give this 5 out of 5, great film for all ages with strong characters that you'll enjoy watching

Takes the original cast to newer heights
With a stellar cast of vocal talent, interesting characters and high octane sound track that drives the creatively written story along, this sequel takes the fun and adventure of the original, replaces some of its childlike Cinderella aspects out and turns up the heat on the action. The situations are predictable - it's a Disney film; you have to fail before coming back to succeed - and whether they could stretch Dustys story into a third story is unlikely (racing fire fighter?) but this film works.

Even better than the Cars movies
another modern classic from Pixar. both myself and my kids love this movie. brilliant animation, engaging characters, good story and the excellent voice acting ( including a few veteran actors ). I thought it was much better than the cars movies that it is a spin off from ( and I did like them ), it deserved more publicity than it was given on general release ( the follow up was just as good too ). as for this release, the Blu-ray is region B as described, good quality with no glitches, sound or colour problems and the menus work smoothly and well. there is a 3d version available as well.

A Rip Roaring ride for kids and those young at heart
I bought this for my cousin who loved the first film. He insisted that I watch this with him, I'll be honest I thought oh no an hour and a half of boredom! I was so wrong!!!! I was hooked! I loved it! I was completely lost in all the edge of your seat, nail biting action! There is adult humour throughout the film to keep us big kids entertained. One thing I learnt from Dusty, (he's the main character) is that no matter what life throws at you, never give up! I wont say anymore as I don't wish to spoil it for you.
