Ardo Calypso Double Electric Breast Pump. Mumsnet Best Hospital Grade Pump.

My poor little baby couldn't latch properly since birth so after trying several different options, I had to resort to expressing milk to make sure she received the goodness of breastmilk. I researched for several weeks before I went and splurged on an electric pump (I was using my philips avent hand pump till then and omg my hands were sore!). There are many pumps available on the market for various prices...you'll find that a hospital grade pump is expensive unless you rent it...but if you're planning to express long term, I would recommend THIS pump. Double electric, easy to use, improves milk supply, quiet, easy to clean and use and most importantly, closed circuit so NO risk of contamination, even if you buy one second hand. There are so many cases of mold and fungus growing inside the tubing of various high end breast pumps but that's not a problem with this one. VERY pleased with the product. Was delivered to me by 11am the very next day and customer service has been absolutely fantastic. The set comes with three different sized flanges for different sized breasts for comfort. Don't we just love swiss-made products? :) Oh and I'm yet to see or hear of a bad review about this pump! I would say its VERY reasonably priced for what you get and in comparison to other similar models. You can adjust both the speed of suction as well as the suction pressure, each to 6 different settings...just fab!

Overall great product, compared really well to hospital grade pumps, incredibly easy to use and versatile and finally customer service is excellent. I used a pump in hospital and was not disappointed with the Ardo pump I used at home. It comes with a lot of different sizes pump heads which makes a SIGNIFICANT difference. Other pumps don't have this (you might be able to buy pump heads seperately), Ardo sends you various different sizes as standard and you can try them out to see which works for you. The pump is nice and strong and has a very simple to use set up where you can vary suction strength and auction frequency. This is great and works very well. It is portable - works both with a mains connection and with batteries! It is super clean and totally mess free. It comes with milk collection bottles but not baby bottles. I think this is a huge plus because it allows you to use which ever brand bottles for your baby (and as any parent will know, you might end up trying different bottles to see which works for you so would not want your pump to tie you to a certain brand of bottle). It was dispatched incredibly quickly and delivered perfectly. I ordered at 10am one morning and had it with me less than 24h later (for no extra cost). I ordered double pump but have only used it as single - my choice entirely. It is also relatively quiet and like I said, very efficient. Have compared to Tommie tippie and medela pumps that a friend has and I still think Ardo is better (medela might come close too, but the Tommie tippie one is definitely not even a competitor). I would thoroughly recommend this and I don't understand why its not more well known!

I have used a few different breast pumps- a horrible Nuk one that went straight back to the shop, a Medela hand pump & an electric Medela one rented from the hospital. The Ardo Calypso is miles better than all of them. It is MUCH quieter than either the Nuk or electric Medela. You can adjust both the suction strength and frequency, with 8 levels for each- finding the combination that works best for you. It has good range of suction strengths- the lowest setting is very gentle going up to a very strong pull. The progression through the 8 settings is smooth (so it isn't like you have 7 weak settings and then jump to a strong one or vise versa). Level 3 gives a stronger setting than the Nuk did at it's highest setting. I generally use level 2 for letdown and 4 or 5 for the remainder. What I really like about this pump is that it comes with a number of different breast shell sizes. I cause myself a fair amount of pain and wasted a lot of time and money with the Medela pump trying to find what worked for me. Since this one comes with several sizes, you can try them all. There are also even bigger/smaller sizes available from Ardo's website. I actually ended up having to order the 22mm (their smallest size) for day to day use, but I found the 31mm (largest size included with pump) to be useful when clearing a blocked duct. Again- it is really nice to have so many options. Ardo's customer service is amazing. I contacted them when I was struggling to find the perfect combination that produced pain free pumping with a decent yield. They emailed me back within 24 hours with a few suggestions and recommended I phone if I was still having issues, which I did. When I phoned they were really helpful, patiently asking questions and offering suggestions. And I must say their advice worked because I can finally pump comfortably and actually empty my breasts (which I never could do with either the hand or electric Medela pumps). The Ardo Calypso is a closed system so it is more hygienic than some of the other options (Medela Swing, for example). It is easy to put together and doesn't have as many little pieces that might get lost in the sink/dishwasher (the Medelas all have this really annoying little white flap that is so easy to lose). I haven't yet tried the pump using batteries so can't comment on how it works with them.

I bought this to replace my medela swing which stopped working after 6 weeks.i have had it for 4 weeks now. I exclusively pump for my premature baby at the minute. The ardo seems to be coping well with my 8 pumping sessions a day so far. Remember to cycle high and vacuum low first then turn the cycles down and vacuum up high once milk starts flowing and get great yield every time. I only have one concern and that is it has started to squeak, so not very silent anymore but it doesn't affect its performance so I'm ok with that as long as it doesn't break down on me like the medela did. Another reason I bought this is because it takes the bottles that uk hospitals provide, saving the hassle unnecessary washing and sterilising. I really like this product. Only 4 stars because of the squeak.

This is a great breast pump. My issue is with th seller. The pump arrived faulty and would not work. I had a week old infant and was struggling with my milk supply so the product arriving not working was disasterous. I contacted the seller who did not reply for 3 days and said I would have to contact ardo customer services. He did not provide any info on how to contact them when requested for over a week. I contacted ardo myself and they sorted me a new pump within a couple of days and this really is an excellent pump and reasonably priced. But I was extremely disappointed with the seller communication hence the one star.

This breastpump has been fantastic for us: I used its big sister in the hospital and loved it, so I decided to get the same brand when I struggled with breastfeeding directly. I've used this every single day, six times per day, for 2.5 months now and it's like my best friend. I have the double version since it saves time to pump both breasts at once, and it works super well. It's pretty quiet, it's quite sleek, and you can get different inserts for the flanges. It's easy to assemble and to sterilise between uses. My only complaint is probably that the buttons are very stiff.

Every mother should get this pump. It’s that good. The only downside is that you have to sit at a place to pump but aside that you’re good to go.

Not sure how to review this as it was recommended by my midwife feeding team, so it must be good, but it never really worked for me. Things I wish I had known going into buying this: 1. It only comes with a couple of size flanges but all women are different sizes, so you will likely need to buy a different size as well, so factor that into your pricing. 2. I definitely could not hold both on at the same time, so no point buying the double one. The only advantage is that you have an extra container that is sterilized but I wouldn't buy the double if I was buying again. It would mean that you'd have to sit holding both on, for me in an upright tilted forward position for the duration of the pump. I liked the idea of it being quicker in a 2 for 1 timing, but the reality wasn't like that. 3. My feeding team in the hospital told me not to get a handsfree one whilst trying to enourage your milk to come through. 4. It's a lot quieter than I expected - you can definitely pump with baby next to you and not disturb them.

Ich habe mir diese Pumpe bestellt, da ich mit der elektrischen einfach-Pumpe von Medela (Swing) beim abpumpen viel zu lange gebraucht habe. Um die 40 Minuten um beide Seiten nacheinander leer zu pumpen. Eine Doppelpumpe anderer Hersteller hat mindestens das doppelte gekostet. Ich nutze sie jeden Tag Abends und unter der Woche Tagsüber zum abpumpen in der Arbeit und zu Hause. Die Ardo Calypso Double Plus ist schon von Haus aus als Doppelpumpe ausgelegt, man kann aber auch nur eine Seite pumpen. Im Vergleich zur Medela Swing ist sie deutlich leiser und auch viel sanfter. Die Trichter (gleich in 2 Größen dabei) haben einen Silikoneinsatz, der das pumpen sehr angenehm macht. Fühlt sich nicht an wie eine Pumpe sondern ähnelt sehr dem Gefühl beim stillen. Das Gerät selber ist recht groß - für mich egal, da ich sie immer im Rucksack transportiere. Könnte aber ggfs. interessant sein, wenn man sie in einer kleine Tasche mitnehmen möchte. Auch die Pumpfunktion selber empfinde ich als sehr gut: Man kann Frequenz und Stärke einstellen - bei einer langsamen Frequenz wird der Sog dabei entsprechend länger gehalten, wodurch das abpumpen sehr schnell geht. Sie schaltet auch nicht automatisch von einer schnellen Frequenz in eine langsame, sondern erst, wenn man die Frequenz und den Sog selber anpasst. Ist sicher Gewohnheitssache - ich finde es so besser. Das Zerlegen und Reinigen ist kein Problem, erklärt sich von selber. Man kann die Pumpe auch im Batteriebetrieb verwenden - ich habe aber immer eine Steckdose in der Nähe, so dass ich nichts über den Batterieverbrauch sagen kann. Die Pluspunkte: + sehr sanft und angenehm dank Silikoneinsatz für die Trichter + sehr leise + Pumpfunktion sehr gut, da Sog bei langsamer Frequenz länger aufrecht gehalten wird + Viel Zubehör bereits dabei + Einfach zu zerlegen und zu reinigen, sogar eine kleine Bürste ist mit in der Kiste gewesen + Preis für eine elektrische Doppelpumpe super, die Konkurrenz ist deutlich teurer Die Kritikpunkte - Gerät ist recht groß

Eccellent. The pump has the vacuum and pumping cycles dials that helps regulate the intensity of milk expression. Furthermore the product comes with plenty accessories I found useful the videos online. I recommend it!!

Es practico para llevar. Me ha funcionado perfecto para usarlo en mi trabajo. No ocupa mucho espacio así que lo puedes cargar en cualquier bolso. Funciona muy bien con pilas o con su cable de corriente.

Compré uno - después de 3 meses se rompió. Compré otro. Después de 1 mes se rompió. La bomba es de mala calidad. ¡No desperdicies tu dinero!
