It holds fabric very firmly, but if you were only gluing down the end there isn't much of a carpet thread to stick onto. If the area doesn't get much footfall it might work. I liked that you could 'pick off' excess glue without leaving any residue. Also that it's quick drying and if you're gluing an awkward item that can't be clamped you can give around five to ten minutes of your time just holding it together, whilst, as against superglue, still having time to adjust the fixing.
