Review: Results to dye for - Reading some of the more negative reviews, I thought this new approach of chucking in the dye within a container would be problematic. Not so! All in one product (no more kilos of salt to buy) & no more emptying out of the dye into the drum - nice and straightforward with less room for accidents. I've been using Dylon's range of dyes for a few years now and this latest format makes it even more simple than the previous all-in-one pouch. To improve your chances of a consistent result, follow the instructions but be aware dirt or soap residues are the enemies to the dyeing process. So I ensure the wash before dyeing is a thorough one, with no fabric conditioner. You could try using distilled white vinegar as a conditioner replacement (useful when you've run out or for towels that you need to stay absorbent), because it helps by neutralising any remaining soap. Choose the highest spin setting your machine offers to get rid of all of those residues. Then, clean out the detergent/conditioner drawer and run another rinse cycle with just water, selecting the option for 'water plus' if your machine has the function to boost the amount of water used in the rinse process. The aim is to make sure there's nothing but clean detergent free fabric. **Q: Hi the navy all in one pod looks far lighter and more blue in colour than the old machine wash navy has anyone used the new navy?**
A: I was concerned about this but found the new packaging was deceptive. Just used a navy pod to dye a french navy cotton shirt with bleach marks and got a really good, even dark navy finish. Very happy.

**Q: Will using three pods ruin my machine**
A: No need to use 3? Use 1 for up to 600g of dry fabric.  If you're doing 1800g of fabric, so need to use 3 then that's what you need to do.  Follow instructions and put the clothes through a wash at the end with washing powder and fabric conditioner, that washes your machine too.   But I did another rinse and spin cycle to be sure all dye was gone.  And wiped around the rubber rim.  Good luck.  It is great as it had the salt in it so no weighing anything else.

**Q: How many pairs of jeans would I be able to have in one cycle? I have a few faded black jeans!**
A: If it’s just a refresh of the same colour you can add more. I had half a wash load of faded black jeans when I did mine. They came out great.

**Q: Do the 'pods' replace the packet machine dyes? i've only ever used the packets so not sure which is better/if there's any difference**
A: Problem with packets is that you have to buy the Dylon salt. The pods are are fantastic as they contain the salt.

The dye took well, and the finished colour was consistent across all the items I dyed. Overall, a great product that delivers impressive results. Reading some of the more negative reviews, I thought this new approach of chucking in the dye within a container would be problematic. Not so! All in one product (no more kilos of salt to buy) & no more emptying out of the dye into the drum - nice and straightforward with less room for accidents. I've been using Dylon's range of dyes for a few years now and this latest format makes it even more simple than the previous all-in-one pouch. To improve your chances of a consistent result, follow the instructions but be aware dirt or soap residues are the enemies to the dyeing process. So I ensure the wash before dyeing is a thorough one, with no fabric conditioner. You could try using distilled white vinegar as a conditioner replacement (useful when you've run out or for towels that you need to stay absorbent), because it helps by neutralising any remaining soap. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Not Great

I used this to bring some faded dark clothing back to life and was pleasantly surprised by the results. The colour came out noticeably darker and made the clothes look much fresher overall although it wasn’t back to being pure black. It didn't completely cover some stains I was hoping to hide, so I wouldn't rely on it for that, but it definitely improved the appearance of the fabric and evened out the colour. One thing to be aware of is that it left some black marks on the washing machine door seal after use. However, most of it came off with a quick wipe and a cleaning cycle, so it wasn't a major issue. Overall, a good product if you're looking to refresh or darken clothing rather than perform miracles on stained items.
