A very good machine, especially when on sale
This is a very good coffee machine that produces consistently enjoyable espresso without taking up too much space on the worktop. It is straightforward to use once you get familiar with it, and the milk frother is useful for making cappuccinos and other milk-based coffees at home. The machine is regularly reduced, and at its sale price I think it offers particularly good value. You still need decent coffee and a little practice with the grind and amount used, but the machine itself is more than capable of producing a proper cup of coffee. A good choice for anyone who wants to move beyond pods without buying a much larger or more expensive machine.

Do some research at first and enjoy your coffee :)
Ok, so, I really have to say something about this machine as this is my 3rd DeLonghi of such type. First of all, what I do want people to know that this machine makes a really good coffee, with putting some research and knowledge of how to use it. If you don't have time/desire/opportunity whatsoever I STRONGLY recommend just to buy any bean-to-cup with no fuss - just press the button. First of all, I am fascinated with its demensions - you will barely notice its presence even on small counter top. It's heating really fast for such small device. I do recommend to use freshly medium-to-fine (but not too fine as the machine will be "choking" in the process) ground coffee, to buy a decent tamper and a stainless steel milk frother cup. Then, DO NOT add more coffee than its meant to baskets (14 g for double portion and 7 g for one portion) as it had been written by other reviews - you will need to put too much strength to close the holder or even worse - you wouldn't be able to do it at all, but with the right measurment (which later you will be able to see intuitively) it will close with NO effort. Milk steamer works fine, too, with skimmed/semi-skimmed (haven't tried whole, though) or soya milk, you will need no more than 40-45 "ticks" to heat milk properly and to make lovely cappucino. Yes this may seem like a lot of fuss for quick coffee-lovers however when everything is done automatically it's actually not. And the price especially on promotions is very good for such lovely device. I do have to mention that I have a separate coffee-filter machine for my big morning cup and this one is for occasional espresso/cappucino and I am satisfied by its taste and quality (good beans make difference as well).

Great starter espresso machine with a few things worth knowing
Really pleased with this machine. It was easy to set up and produces a really good espresso once you get used to using it. I watched a YouTube setup video and followed it step by step, which made the initial setup very straightforward. One tip I would give is to have some cheap coffee available when you first set it up. You need to make around four shots as part of the initial setup before the fifth is ready to drink, so I wouldn’t waste your good coffee doing this. The steam wand works really well for frothing milk. I particularly like that you can push the setting up for hot milk or down for cappuccino depending on what you’re making. I bought a separate milk thermometer so I can make sure the milk reaches the temperature I want when making hot drinks, and I’ve found this really useful. The water tank is a decent size and lasts for a few espresso shots and hot drinks before I need to refill it. One thing I noticed is that if you overfill the portafilter with coffee, it won’t slot into the machine properly. If this happens, I just take a little coffee out and try again. Once you know not to overfill it, it’s not really an issue. The included plastic tamper and scoop could definitely be better quality, but they do the job when you’re first starting out. I also like that there are plenty of accessories available separately, so you can gradually upgrade your setup if you get more into making coffee. The drip tray is removable and easy to wash, and there’s a handy little red indicator that rises when the tray is getting full and needs emptying. Mine unfortunately arrived with the piece for using espresso capsules missing. Thankfully I don’t use capsules so it hasn’t affected me, but it was disappointing for a new machine to arrive with a part missing. I also really like the colour and design of the machine. It matches my kitchen perfectly, doesn’t look out of place on the worktop and doesn’t take over the whole space. It’s been a great introduction to making espresso, cappuccinos and other milk-based coffees at home. There are a couple of small things that could be improved, but I’m really happy with the machine and the coffee it produces

Speedy, long lasting space saving machine, 4+ years
Long lasting space saving machine! Works like a charm and I do descale it properly and I use distilled water. I love it because It occupies very little space and I have a grinder too from Delonghi so my coffee is freshly brewed everyday! I got one of the bottomless porta filter coffee handle and basket. The cream, aroma and taste are better than a coffee shop. I was on a budget when I bought this and it saved me a lot of money as I stop buying coffees outside and also I paid a reasonable amount for a coffee machine that has its own tank rather than needing pressure and other connections. I make a lot of coffees everyday and I’m very pleased with it! It is a bit loud but its fast so that is no bother to me. When I hear the sound and smell of fresh coffee, I know my day begins the right way thanks to Dedica Delonghi and I didn’t even try to create a headline 😂 They better give me royalties for this! Now seriously if you want a no fuss, good quality at a reasonable price coffee machine that lasts in time, then get this one. I had several coffee machines before this but stopped searching with this one. My family has sage and other more expensive coffees but I prefer mine and now I could afford a more expensive one but I’ll stick to this one as this is how pleased I am with it. Is the speed of it that I love!

Weak pump, portafilter issues
I've been using this machine for 6 months or so. My overall impression is that the pump is not strong enough to force through a double espresso to the point where a decent amount of crema is created. I've experimented with filling the filter 3/4 full and this produces a weak espresso, and when you fill it to the top and tamper it down a little the pump can only produce a dribble, or it simply stops and you have to start again. I've been wondering if I have a faulty machine to be honest. It's that weak. But I guess it's an entry level machine and so you get what you pay for? Otherwise, when you remove the portafilter to clean out the basket of coffee grinds, the basket get's stuck in the machine. This means you have to remove it with your hands and you get into a terrible mess. Apart from that the milk wand is good.

A big step up from a pod machine. Easy to use when you get the hang of it and makes heavenly coffee
I love my coffee and I have wanted an espresso machine with portafilter for a long time. I had tried the pod machines and used refillable pods, grinding my own beans. But I just knew I could get better coffee so I picked this up when the vine sale hit and it looked more reasonable in price. I am so happy I did. It's like night and day in comparison. I chose the silver look as it's just a metal finishing and easy to wipe down. Out the box it is easy to assemble. You get the machine, a tiny drip tray, portafilter handle, 2 portafilters (a 1 cup, and a 2 cup), a hefty instruction book and descaling fluid (cleaning). Make sure you follow the instructions about 1st use to flush out any nastyness. Espresso is easy even for a novice. Just pop the filter into the handle, fill with ground coffee and tap down with tamper. Then twist the handle in until it locks. There's a power button on the side and when the lights stop flashing hit the 1 or 2 cup option. In 30 seconds you'll have a tasty espresso. You can then hit the 1 or 2 cup option to add more hot water and make it a longer drink. The filter holder twists in securely. It is a bit tough if you're not used to it. So just hold the top of the machine to get a bit of leverage. The filters are pressurised and use a small point in the middle. I changed them over for a more open basket. There's also a rubber seal which can effect flavour. Inside the holder/ handle there is a plastic flow director... Again it's plastic which is porous and can leach bad flavours and effects the taste so if you remove it (1 screw underneath) your coffee will taste wonderful again. The water tank is easy to fill and big enough for an afternoon or day of making coffee. The wand for making hot water or frothy milk works a treat. It is tricky at 1st but try and get the spout just on the surface of the milk and adjust up or down a little . When you get the hang of it it makes wonderfully frothy creamy milk for espressos. It does recommended semi skimmed but full fat milk is wonderful to do if a little more tricky. You can also just get hot water from the wand for tea or top ups which is a great excuse to replace the kettle. Just make sure you undo the wand and rinse and wipe after use to keep it fresh. The drip tray is pretty useless unless you are only using tiny mugs. It gives you very little clearance. So I just removed it and used the lower one, then wipe with a cloth. Noise. This is not quiet but it is a serious machine. As long as it is in a separate room from the family you will be ok. If you have an open plan kitchen / living room you might be banished to another part of your home with the machine. Space. This has a fantastic narrow profile so it takes up the same width of counter or desk space as a kettle and because it has a water tank you can set this up in almost any room of your house or office. There is enough space on the top to sit a couple of mugs which is great for sleepy morning prep. Cleaning is really easy and there are lots of accessories available for this machine to. Good quality and value. Highly recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful

Finally
After some trials and failures with a few different machines, I think we have finally found our perfect match in this machine 👏🏻 It heats up in no time, the handle is really secure in place on the machine and it extracts evenly. Love not having to time a shot, just click the button and do something else whilst it does the work for you. The wand has a setting for warm milk and cappuchino, as I am a Latte person and my husband is a flat white person, I make a lot of milk in one go. (~450ml whole milk) I set it to Cappuchino and place the jug under to let it do the magic. It has a timed setting so it stops frothing just a little too soon for our larger milk portion, but probably perfect for a smaller portion of milk. I just start the frothing cycle again and let it run for another 20-30 seconds just to get the right temperature, not a problem. I would rather it stopped frothing a little too soon than not at all, as I had a few incidents with the Stilosa as that never turns off. The machine seems sturdy with no creaking or rattling when being used, and it's very narrow so it doesn't take up much space. Noise: It makes the standard burrrrr and duuurrrr noises you would expect from any coffee maker, it just comes with the territory and if you can't stand that sound for a few seconds before getting your hands on a delicious cup of freshly brewed coffee, you should probably stop looking at these machines all together. Some have the mechanism a little more insulated, but you still hear it clearly. To put it this way; there isn't a single machine I would operate whilst on a work phone call because they are all too loud, even if they are less loud. Even the professional noise insulated machine we had at work that cost a fortune was too loud. To sum up the other machines for anyone considering different models based on reviews; The Stilosa was great for taste, but it was a chore to manually time every shot just because I am easily distracted and prefer to multitask. It's a bit slow to heat up and pressure seemed a little low some times, but on a copule occasions the pressure was high enough that the handle came flying off mid extraction to splatter wet coffee grounds everywhere. It was a bit cheaper than this one and you can sort of tell when handling them both, but still a fantastic machine for someone who likes to do everything manually as it makes great coffee. All the 'bean-to-cup' machines didn't have the right taste at all, tasted like our usual 'freshly ground beans coffee' had been replaced by instant coffee no matter what grind or extraction settings we tried. And if wr wanted to use pre-ground coffee it was a whole operation to add it to the extractor. The milk auto-frother was a massive letdown on all, the worst was on a nearly £500 De'longhi machine, no matter what we tried it only spat out somewhat warm milk with a few bubbles, never any foam. Hot chocolate had more foam than my lattes, it was ridiculous.

So happy, no more pods!...though it does take them.
Great new little expresso machine, no more trying to recycle pods! Very pleased it takes coffee like the larger expensive models. And, best of all, it didn't break my budget or take too much counter space up.

Consigliatissima!!!
Non ho tanto da dire. Davvero bella.
