excellent cuppa maker but ergnomic issues need consideration.
Spoilt for many by ergonomic issues. Scored 0 to 5, serious to noteworthy. 1) The manual. eg No mention of how to change lamp bulb. No mention of importance of setting tea pot handle forwards as shown on cover picture. Spout only fits over small angle. null pointe. 2) The lamp. Still using 15 w pygmy bulb. On/Off switch needs hard push. Using one hand can push whole caboodle off table onto floor. null pointe. 3) Hinge to kettle cover seems flimsy. quatre pointe. 4) Alarm . Bleeper so boxed in you will not hear it unless awake. flashing blue light might attract attention. Bleeper auto stops after three minutes. null pointe f5) Tea pot. my sample the pot is a tight fit over the lip in the unit and needs a push to get it to sit firmly on its base. cinq pointe. 6) Tea pot lid. With a 30mm hole in it it is all but redundant. the lugs on the lid look fragile. The lid can be a little fiddly to fit and even more trouble to remove.. trois pointe. 7) Blue light. Far too bright at night. une pointe. 8) The Clock. Viewing angles badly set. Can only read time if eye level is above clock centre line. trois pointe. 9) The Clock. Restarts automatically from 12 when power is restored. Alarm setting lost. Why is it not radio controlled. trois pointe. 10) Time they had a voice operated version. Will Littlewoods (swan) take note of reviews? Not a snow flake in hells chance. I have owned several Swan Teasemades. The best died short of five years of daily use. Will this one do better? On taking the bottom cover off for a visual inspection this is what was seen. Loose wiring, the kettle separated from the clock and its back pack by a heat shield. The clock and its back pack are a single sub assembly with the push button switches and some logic and clock software. This assembly is clearly not intended to be replaceable. The labour cost would be prohibitive anyway. It essentially follows that the durability of this device depends heavily on the quality of this sub assembly.. The kettle has good fault protection. Some wires pass over a sharp edge on the heat shield. The mains cord is sleaved inside the unit but can get close to the kettle. But there is no evidence of any likely safety hazard. Any fault with the wiring external to the clock sub unit is repairable.. In summary the wiring is amateurish and I would not have passed it for production. Will this device be more durable? I think it has a good chance but be aware that any sub unit failure renders the device a write off.

Could be better, could even be excellent.
Four stars, but maybe should be three. This is a hairsbreadth off being excellent. My immediate reaction to the teasmade is influenced by the enclosed leaflet, which does not show all correct icons for the buttons and fails to describe how to set it for. morning tea! I had to go on the internet to download the correct manual and I assume that the leaflet enclosed was printed in China. A few issues. There is no backup battery, so if there is even a momentary power cut, the time reverts to 12.00, and so no morning tea! Even moving the unit to another location or inadvertently disconnecting the power, the clock and alarm have to be reset. The alarm is very quiet and if you are a deep sleeper then you might miss your cuppa. The brightness of the clock is not able to be adjusted and already my teasmaid is living under a cloth cover as it is too bright. The teasmaid could be used both for bedside and also for another location in the bedroom and the ability to adjust clock brightness might accomodate this choice. The twelve hour clock also means that you can’t reset the unit until the evening unless you want to waste a cuppa in the early evening. Given the easy accessibility of very sophisticated chips with lots of menu features and a backup battery the designers have missed out on making this a very good product, and have opted for an “adequate” rating from me.

Works perfectly.
This is a must for tea lovers as it makes a nice cup of tea in the morning. I'm very pleased with this Swan Teasmade.

Best product I have ever bought
I have always wanted one of these, it is so easy to use and looks good, it comes with a ceramic tea pot enough for 2 cups of tea, its not too large so hardly takes up any room and great value for money.

Very useful.
I bought one of these for Christmas however had to return that one (Amazon's return service is incredible - just a few clicks and the new one arrived the next day) as, there was a faulty safety switch which I believe has blighted other people's. Essentially, when you place the teapot in the side, there is a pressure safety switch which depresses enabling the Teasmade to function. Ours however would only depress if I wedged a teaspoon next to the pot, pushing it against the thing which would obviously not do. Our new one works perfectly. It huffs and puffs quite a bit towards the end of the brew however, I find that more effective than the alarm itself! The blue clock face is illuminated constantly and can't be dimmed however, I personally find the shade of blue quite pleasing and it doesn't interrupt our sleep. It is very simple and basic to use - the clock has no indication of pm or am - and makes nice tea. Which is the important thing. Very pleased with it and thumbs up for the return service.

Jug Position Safety Cutout Not Working on Receipt.
Caution. This one had a serious fault. The safety cut-out that prevents the water from boiling when the jug isn't in place, and also prevents the water from boiling if the jug is removed, failed to operate. I have returned this one, and a replacement is being sent out. I contacted Swan, and the person I spoke to said they had worked there for 20 years and never heard of this before. What strikes me is that unless you specifically test this feature, you would never know that it was faulty. I also noted that the safety switch, against which the jug rests, is now longer than it was. On this particular set, the jug would not sit completely flat in its recess - according to Swan it SHOULD, and I will be carefully checking the replacement. This purchase was to replace one from 2019 as the heating element failed. Update 3 Jan 2026 The new one arrived but the button to adjust the time sticks in so the hands just keep going around . Amazon have referred me to Swan to discuss this. We are obviously very unhappy with the recent experience. But we will give Swan the chance to resolve this.

Good while it lasted - which wasn’t long!
I’d wanted a teasmade for a long time and when I was gifted an Amazon voucher it was the perfect opportunity to buy one. I loved this teasmade when I first got it but after a couple of months the lamp which I used as my bedroom / reading lamp stopped working so I had to put another lamp in the room because the design if the unit means it’s impossible to replace the bulb. A few months after that the teasmade component stopped working - the water would boil but not come out. We cleaned it with descaler and it worked again… once. Then it refused to work again. Sadly we had to throw it away. I’m on the lookout for another teasmade as they’re a really great thing to have - I get up early and loved being woken up by the kettle boiling and having my tea there and then rather than having to get up and go down to the kitchen to make tea especially dark, cold mornings.

Swan Tea Maker
It looks good! It works! Few little bits I’m not that happy with. 1/. Clock face at certain angles - the clock fingers fad. 2/. The Alarm isn’t loud at all - the tea making is what wakes you up. 3/. Instructions are really poor. Go on Utube and see how to work it. Then it becomes straight forward. 4/. Reading light is way too bright. Overall - it’s worth the money. It does its Job. Very easy to operate and set up ( once you’ve been on Utube)

Replacement Teasmade arrived quickly and in one piece
My original teasmade was bought from the UK and had sprung a leak. I was desperate to replace it - I use it daily to wake up to my hot pot of tea! Luckily I found it on Amazon, put in an order and it arrived promptly to Australia. (You do have to change the UK plug to an Australian plug to use) All in one piece including ceramic teapot and it works beautifully. Thank goodness!

Falta un elemento importante
El problema es que ha llegado el aparato sin reloj; entonces es completamente inútil. ¿Que debo hacer?

Great early morning tea.
I’ve had 3 Teasmades which between them have spanned over 50 years. The replacement looks like a worthy successor. It makes excellent tea as (unlike many restaurants) it understands that the water has to be boiling. The only downside is the LED backlight which is far too bright. It makes an effort to dim it at night, but nowhere near enough. A towel draped over it is an effective but annoying workaround.
